Yep, you heard that right... Republican lawmakers are complaining that Canada is ruining their summer.

Instead of blaming arson and poor forest management, let's address the elephant in the room: the FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY.

Let's hold them accountable >> act.gp/4lZqEGQ

Elon Musk and the Death of Twitter Origin Story · Episode

This pod was SO good. It tells the story of Musk destroying Twitter, w/ great detail & backstory from 2 new books that will have you laughing & your jaw dropping. It also highlights his radicalization journey & the ludicrous hypocrisies of his God complex. open.spotify.com/episode/1218...

U.S. president-elect Donald Trump talks of using ‘economic force’ to annex Canada Trump ruled out military action, but said economics could convince Canada to agree to a political union with the U.S.

Canadian centrist elites still downplay the risks of Trump taking over Canada. I am taking it extremely seriously, though I have no fucking clue what to do about it. www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/391c82b...

Left: "Ministers resist calls to block Musk donations to Farage’s Reform UK"

Right: That time in 2019 when @carolecadwalla.bsky.social called out misinformation which influenced Brexit and took the UK out of the EU by a slim of margin

Is Labour's inaction damaging the integrity of our democracy?

I don’t know how she went from writing a book slightly critical on the power of Oligarchs to a few years later deciding to organize her government around serving their needs and growing their wealth but I was not impressed.

Freeland worked hard to block basic climate finance regs we were working on that would have cost government zero money but led to some minor new regulatory and paperwork burdens on polluters and massively profitable banks. She was a force against needed change.

I once thought maybe that was the nature of her Finance Minister role, as the sober “how do we pay for that” smalll c conservative voice, but other governments have had far more visionary and progressive finance leads who are less embedded in pleasing the corporate power structures.

Christiya Freeland was probably a nice person but was no friend to the issues I care most about. She was an active blocker on many important progressive priorities especially on climate and climate finance, and basically anything that tried to limit corporate power.

Corporate greed has ruined our society our lives and our planet. But sure, let’s get rid of the guardians protecting us from the worst gouging. That’ll surely help.

The Quest to Better Recycle Wind Turbines and Solar Panels From France to Taiwan, companies are experimenting in ways to recycle discarded solar panels and wind turbine blades.

Good ideas here on how clean energy can & must get cleaner. Also, helpful context: the envt'l impacts of retired solar panels "will be dwarfed by the amount of plastic, coal ash and municipal waste generated per year if there isn't a major push to decarbonize." www.bloomberg.com/graphics/202...

Hot tip to all climate communicators: never, EVER, talk about MT of emissions. I’ve been working on climate for 15 years and I still barely know what 1 or 50 megatonnes of GHG means. Keep the data to reports, when communicating with the public plz always use social math to show scale.

“Positive social change results mostly from connecting more deeply to the people around you than rising above them, from coordinated rather than solo action… Our largest problems won’t be solved by heroes. They’ll be solved, if they are, by movements, coalitions, civil society.”
