I am completely inept when it comes to fixing cars. I can change a tire and jump a battery, but that's about it.
And the best part is my dad is a mechanic. Like cars, equipment, hydraulics, the man is a machine wiz. He spent my entire life trying to teach me anything he could. Didn't go so well.

Few things give you motivation to write like a positive review.
One more person likes my book, that's one more person for whom I need to finish my series.

During tonight's stream I was shocked, and privileged, to receive the channel's very first subscription (and 3 gift subs, like, what!?)
Thank you, my small, beautiful community. Here is to many more adventures with the written word!
That's awesome!
Is it believable that after a protagonist had faced undead, monsters, and incredible threats that they would have a simple phobia?
Like say for no particularly reason... Dolls.

As a fun Indie April post, here are some teasers for "Archblade: Oathbound" that I am currently editing:

Anyone who passes on DCC audiobooks are missing out.
There is this bit added at the end of Book 3 where Carl reads a script about writers and that is F-ing hilarious. As a writer myself, him going on about Goodreads reviews and how little you get for all your work... I felt seen and validated.
Been seeing a TON of folks looking for Scifi books, and it's been awhile since I made a promo post. Mine is a Scifi/Fantasy blend, and the 2nd/3rd books I am working on lean even harder on the scifi elements.

You know, I was wondering the same thing.
Honestly, I'm not great at social media marketing (Even less so with Instagram) so I just assumed it was something I didn't understand yet.
Check out this awesome gift basket my wife put together!
It's going to be used as a prize in a drawing at The Bookish Social event held by Triple Charm Events
(www.facebook.com/triplecharme...)
on April 16th!

Someone on Instagram asked me to send them my post yesterday about getting a bookstore to buy my book.
I thought: "Oh nice, they want to share book content, help spread the word about my book, and the store itself!"
Nope. Turns out they wanted to sell me their "services."
So exhausting.

Just sold a copy of Legend of the Defiler to Books and Bears in Florence, Oregon!

They are a quaint book store with a comfortable atmosphere and a great selection. Great place to find a book!

If I hear any, I'll post about it.
Saw someone flat-out ask fantasy readers how to get someone to read their book. Saw a bunch of great responses, and I'm just sitting here in shock thinking: "YOU CAN DO THAT?!"
Evidently, I need to stop trying so hard.

Got an email today from another random person selling their "services".
It was a multi page essay about all the reasons my book was amazing, unique, and what the market is looking for.
Unfortunately, I could also tell it was all AI-generated within the first couple sentences.
Got a wonderful surprise in the mail.
I've never recieved a thank you card for doing an author event. Made me even happier that I did it.
Check out www.instagram.com/grassrootsbo... if you're looking for an awesome place in Oregon to shop for books!

Hatred and greed are fleeting.
I've finally been listening to the audiobooks of Dungeon Crawler Carl. It is everything that folks promised and lives up to all the hype.
I'm a good ways into the 2nd book and the best part is I've been listening to it together with my wife.
My wife: "So for your birthday, did you want the audio books, ebooks, or physical copies of the Dungeon Crawler Carl books?"
Me: "Yes."
I ran both my account and my wife's accounts for Pokemon Go today during Gofest. She had to work and she didn't want to miss some of the Mega pokemon raids.
Holy hell. My brain feels like pudding from trying to do all that at once.
So grateful for the chance to show off my work and talk to potential readers!

Had to stop browsing social media when I saw a story about a woman saying "God chose her son" while he dies from Measles after not being vaccinated.
I was so enraged and depressed, I had to stop what I was doing and move on to something more cheerful: The horror-themed monster scene in my WIP.
I love a good book-related trend!
Author. First Page. Cover. All me, all available at the link.

On Friday March 6th at 6pm I'll be at Grass Roots Books in Corvallis, Oregon to sign copies of "Archblade: Legend of the Defiler", answer questions, and chat about reading/writing in general. Come say hello if you're in the area!

Saw this on Facebook and had to share:
Just saw how the White House is going to bailout the god-awful movie that Melania Trump made. Isn't it great how people with no talent or creativity can get special treatment like that?
While "normal" folks who put years of their life into art or writing just get lost in obscurity every day.
We found some channels that are quite good. We had our boys watching "Sci show" and "Sci show kids" who are big on fact checking and scientific accuracy. And that really seemed to rub off on my son.
My teenager is on a rant because a weather-based youtuber is making stuff up, and after fact-checking them, he has to go off about all the ways the youtuber is wrong
I'm proud of him for caring so much about scientific accuracy and gathering information from confirmed sources to find out the truth.
What an awesome day! One person deliberately asked to review my book, a nice couple bought a number of copies for their friend (Among them being a book influencer!) And it ended with the store wanting to stock copies of my book!
Thank you so much, Salem Barnes & Noble for having me!

A HUGE thank-you to Greg and Kelly for buying four copies for themselves and their friends. Your encouraging words were heartwarming and I'm still smiling from them.
