I mean, Zettlr *mostly* attemts to target social scientists and humanities scholars, since they usually are stuck with either Word or Google Drive, but we're also surprised by this listing.

Maybe in the future Zettlr shows up on these lists, but there's still room.

Zettlr 4.2.0 is now live! Most acutely, possibly for some of you, it includes a bug fix that improves the interplay with the recent @zotero.org 8.0 update that overhauled their citation key mgmt.

The update will roll out over the coming hours.

It's not the end of the world; and exports will continue to work fine. But for good measure, there's now a fix in the codebase that will also report (via logging an error) if there was an item that is affected by this.

So to ensure your items are all still proper, please review the logs.

Some of you may have experienced issues with Zettlr's citation key autocomplete stopping to work after the 8.0.3 Zotero update.

While we don't know why it happened, we know what happened: Some citation items in the CSL JSON export are missing a citekey, and Zettlr just assumed tha they do.

Absolutely. The wording of settings is always up for debate because especially in the en-US variety it’s essentially coming from the developers directly, and as such prone to difficult wordings — that’s why we want feedback and suggestions from our users so direly!

No worries! The changelog was indeed a bit difficult to digest!

In any case, I hope that answered your questions thus far, let us know if anything else comes up!

Something like this is planned — alas not for opening files (if that takes considerable time, that's a bug), but for workspaces :D

This I'd have to double check. But this shouldn't induce such a big lag. Feel free to open an issue on GitHub so we don't forget it.

For Zettlr 4.0, we have put some extra effort in rewriting the citation parser. Now, your citations will be properly highlighted and detected. This improves performance, user experience, and implements more citation features.

Oh, and the citation renderer now properly detects crossrefs!
