Labour is in government. It has the opportunity, and frankly the moral imperative, to take the lead here. It should announce an orderly departure from X, with a clear timetable, and alternative sources of information for those who have relied on the Nazi child abuse platform until now.

I hope this reaches our politicians. I've written to my MP, Edinburgh Council and plan to contact MSPs and more institutions today.
New on @labourhame.com:
Labour Hame editor @dhothersall.bsky.social, a former Twitter addict, says that while he understands the motivation of staying on a platform where vital communities of support and engagement have been built and prospered, it is now morally unjustifiable to remain on X.
A screenshot of an email to info@labourhame.com. The email subject is "Perhaps" and the message is: Perhaps you should delete all the glowing references to Lord Mandelson on your blog. Or are you campaigning for Reform now?
Interesting email arrived this morning. I checked - there are precisely TWO mentions of Peter Mandelson on Labour Hame, and BOTH of them are criticisms!
"I do think most members appreciate that while our common cause stems from shared principles, government requires pragmatism. But pragmatism has to deliver, otherwise it starts to appear simply to be the absence of principles."

New on @labourhame.com: Dr Jekyll and Mr Hiding-to-nothing
Duncan Hothersall, Editor of Labour Hame, speculates about a saboteur hiding in the heart of government, and perceives the patience of Labour members wearing thin.

Stuart Clark is standing to be Labour’s candidate in Renfrewshire North and Cardonald in the 2026 Scottish election. www.labourhame.com/time-to-put-...
In fact I think @hoski67.bsky.social has also written about that. Worth checking our archive page under his name.
Pretty good article with evidence. Have you also thought that yes/no questions (which the electoral commission said are biased against no) are unlikely to be used again and neutral questions produce a much bigger majority to the pro UK side?

Robert Hoskins of Glasgow South CLP (@hoski67.bsky.social) examines recent polling and widespread claims about the demographic inevitability of Scottish independence. He is ... unconvinced!

Me for @labourhame.com on Friday at #ScotLab25:
Anas Sarwar told a credible story in his speech today, but it was undermined by a baffling, dangerous segue into populism and an embrace of moral panic politics which is unlikely to help his prospects of becoming FM.

Labour Hame is a blog, and you should really learn to read.
Righteous anger here from Jack McConnell on how the SNP have squandered the early promise of devolution. But there's also a challenge to us all here to reinvigorate Scottish politics. Worth a read: www.thetimes.com/article/8231...
Trump's USAID freeze is about to make $500 million in food aid go bad. Someone blew the whistle, so Trump fired them.

Headline reading: "Scott Turner Is Ordering the Housing Department to Limit Transgender People's Access to Shelters" — The Department of Housing and Urban Development's directive to stop enforcing its Equal Access Rule would limit transgender people's ability to access housing programs and shelters.
Amid a catastrophic housing and homelessness crisis—with seven evictions filed every minute and rent now unaffordable for a record half of all U.S. tenants—what was Scott Turner’s first act as HUD Secretary?
To make it easier for federally funded shelters to turn trans people away.
The SNP has hoarded power in Edinburgh and then governed through a series of bodies dependent on £6.6 billion of public money, meaning the buck never has to stop with them. And it has meant that this quango class – many of whom are fantastically able and public spirited – operate at one step removed from either communities or the elected representatives who serve them. All of which means our public services have remained essentially unreformed for years, without the driving imperative that comes from knowing you are answerable to parents, to patients and to passengers.

Bluesky Scottish Labour folk - please say if you want to be added to this starter pack, or if there is anybody obviously missing. It's getting quite hard to keep up with who has joined! Thanks!

Kirsty McNeill, the Scottish Labour and Co-operative MP for Midlothian and the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Scotland, sets out four major challenges facing Scotland after two decades of nationalist government, and how we can address them.
Sincere apologies for the delay! Added now. 👍

I remember campaigning with John in the Inch in my constituency. We came across a 50th party in a garden. He walked straight in and was soon holding court, telling anecdotes but also getting our message across.
A brilliant man. Condolences to his family and friends.
Rest in peace.
As Stephen Flynn falters in his climb to the top, one from the vaults by @dhothersall.bsky.social about the journey the SNP has been on, and how perilous that climb is now that they are, in the words of a commenter, "entirely a party of gesture and pretence". www.labourhame.com/john-mason-a...
