I know a few dozen people who support infrastructure and data centers, and of all of those people I only know one who actually works on site

So those data centre support jobs could just easily be in Mexico or India. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

There are many things Iโ€™m very proud of as a Canadian. MANY things. But every time I watch another media story about another ambitious push in renewable energy from China, Iโ€™m embarrassed that Canada isnโ€™t aggressively working to quickly become a true global powerhouse in renewable energy.

Should Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ create more air pollution within our borders? Or ship ๐Ÿ›ณ๏ธ our oil coal and gas to other countries so the pollution happens outside our borders?

This is important. it could target people who are vulnerable. Corporate greed is not a Canadian value. The capitalist obsession with extracting the maximum amount of money from Canadians is not acceptable.

Urgent need for a windfall profits tax on oil and gas How to prevent the fossil fuels corporations from making a killing on this illegal war, and put the revenues to better use

"Taxing the oil and gas companiesโ€™ profits means we can deploy some of those revenues directly helping lower and modest-income households, while using some of the funds to expedite our transition off these deadly fuels."

Opinion | Remember the Oil Shocks of the โ€™70s? This Is Going to Be Worse. Much Worse.

This is the first oil crisis in which clean alternatives to oil and gas โ€“ solar panels, wind turbines, electric vehicles and batteries โ€“ are both inexpensive and widely available.

Heating oil prices are sky-rocketing around the world.

The Nordics have understood the risks of using fossil fuels for heating early on and transitioned away from heating oil almost entirely whilst phasing in heat pumps.

Rising fuel prices prompt Canadians to consider EVs. Here's how much they cost 1 in 3 Canadians are open to buying an electric vehicle, according to a recent poll.

"Some estimates suggest that EVs save drivers $350 per month in fuel costs, including a recent report by Clean Energy Canada," writes @nationalpost.bsky.social. #cdnpoli

Gas tax breaks are bandaids at best. Real solution is to help low & middle-income Cdns get off fossil fuels. Invest in solar, heat pumps, batteries, EVs. Tackle barriers, offer real incentives & fund w/ windfall tax on Big Oil (who are laughing all the way to the bank). Cleaner, cheaper, healthier.

Gas tax cut will save a typical driver $17 a month for five months. EVs save $250 a month indefinitely - Clean Energy Canada TORONTO โ€” Rachel Doran, executive director at Clean Energy Canada, released a statement in response to the announcement of a suspension of the federal Fuel Excise Tax on gasoline, diesel, and aviation...

Hey BSKY Canadians.
We're serious when we say to take the gas tax break and put it aside for your next EV purchase. Getting an EV next rather than another "gas" car. will put money in your pocket!

If we can get the world using cleaner renewable energy that doesn't pollute. We ALL "win" the war. ๐Ÿ†

Hey Canadians!

ProTip suggestion (if it works for your life and budget).
Since the Canadian ๐ŸซŽ government is giving a tax break on fossil ๐Ÿ›ข๏ธfuels between now(ish) and Labour day. Put that money aside saving for:
- an electric hot water heater ๐Ÿšฟ
- a heat pump โ™จ๏ธ
- an EV. ๐Ÿš—

hang in there! ๐Ÿ’ต

Many people we know are completely content to wait 4 years till the US elects somebody who is not horrible.

Crossing the border South means:
10x the risk of getting shot.
Risks of being grabbed by secret police and thrown in detention for no reason.

no thanks. Its great up here.

Remember: There is nothing natural or inevitable about extreme inequality; itโ€™s the result of an economic system that values wealth and power over human dignity and justice.

It doesn't have to be this way.
