Anyone who treats any career path as easy is just plain uninformed. Building an audience in the self-pub arena is freaking HARD.

There's a bit of a noir tinge to this as well, which I like in this setting even if I'm not a fan of traditional noir. This is like Slab City Blues meets Mad Max 1&2 if I had to give a comp.

I keep seeing people on Twitter slam Bsky and how thereβs no one here and Iβve got to say, that hasnβt been my experience at all. Like I actually get traction on book posts here and so itβs lovely to see β¨ almost 20K β¨ fans of indie books here! Look at our little community finding each other π₯Ίπ€πͺ

The first time in five years I haven't been a finalist for the Nebula for Best Short Story. I couldn't be happier. Every story here rocks.

Honored to have made a shortlist! Lots of good books in the competition.
Growing up, I could see Canada from my bedroom window. So, so sad to be in a senseless conflict with our northern neighbors and long-time allies and friends. ππ₯π

Final editing is 99% done, just putting things together mostly. It's been a slog for a few months. Best of luck wrapping yours up!
Great cover, the wolf anchors this really well.
collage of a year of kdp stat bars showing no break in sales since 7 march 2024. text says 'just one week to a year of book sales!' and there's an arrow showing where the streak began on the 7th of march 2024.
I self-published my first book in February 2017. This streak, my first, took me eight years to achieve. π₯Ίπ
If you want to help me get to the full year (which will be Friday!), now is the perfect week to buy one of my books or short stories! β¨

meme of two people carrying a third one lying on a gurney, the dialogue is one asking "what happened to them?" and the other responds "their WIP performed better than the finished art"
the pain
Still, a successful WIP is a step forward even if it's not the big leap you wanted.
That is the perfect way to think of it. FF VI is a fantastic game.

The Freak by Matt Lesniewski, a short graphic novel published by OniPress. Review by Ronit J for SFF Insiders.
#BookReview
Absurdly evocative and gut-wrenchingly visceral, The Freak by Matt Lesniewski says a whole lot about discrimination and hate with brevity and stunning artwork.

I'm finally wrapping up a novel I've been working on for two and a half years. I always feel a bit, not sure how to put this, but, out of sorts when the end arrives.
How about you? What does your headspace look like at the finish line?
I really love the cover art on this one.

I had no clue anyone thought like that lol. That's crazy. I've been in situations with bad turbulence when seat belts kept everyone strapped in and from smacking their heads hard on the bins above. I don't even want to imagine how many people would have died in this incident.
This needs to happen.
Imagine if @aoc @sanders.senate.gov , every dem, SIMULTANEOUSLY held Town Halls where they allowed grant and contract recipients to explain to the country what it is they do and why it's important
