This was Better Half in Russian Hill. SOHN in Dogpatch has similar vibes. There is staff to direct foot traffic in the most professional of manners either go take out for to take an acclaimed seat for there. Both spots had above average if not distinctly unique art pieces on display.

They paused to describe it as one might hear a dish described at a tasting restaurant. This was one of the m ah charms of a place that has now been open 10 months. Where else would I find this except here in SF. It was lux cafe culture. Intentional coherent aesthetics. Professional haute cafe.

Also in the morning I’d found a new cafe I really enjoyed. The cashiers and barista were darling and their chit chat made me laugh with surprise. They were naturals. I’d never experienced this kind of service, especially for a cafe. When they brought me my poached egg with hen of woods over polenta

I saw a boat leaving the dock this morning with a pair of bikes tucked away. If I had a bucket list I’d add that to it. I once spent a fair amount of time getting a hitch outfitted so I could take my bikes out to Sonoma / Napa to bike around a bit. It kind of worked.

half-baked thought: the tyler cowen podcast "project" is kind of his meditation on whether, in the absence of cross-domain transfer learning, all intellectual pursuits, maybe all human pursuits of "excellence" period, are just so many silly little fandoms

There are places in exploring in LA too. I’ve walked around the Schindler House Eames and Frey House II. Frey is most similar to the one you posted. Theres a few more down there so I’m hoping to get down there soon again

I try to find interesting places in the bay area. I think I’ve explored most of them and can probably make a comprehensive list. Often surprised with places I hadn’t known about or pleased with new places yet to open. Also sad about places that have closed.

In this interview, Wilson describes how factors of contemporary society can cause us to miss these signs, and gives insight into how we can live more defiantly and meaningfully.
