Under SB 1275, Californians who buy a car or truck would get a federal tax break that they don’t currently receive. The legislation, as a result, could boost vehicle sales in the state, and it won’t cost consumers or car dealers a thing. It’s a win-win proposal.

SB 1275 is an innovative proposal that would eliminate the state sales tax on motor vehicle purchases for five years and replace it with a vehicle license fee of the same amount that can be deducted from federal taxes.

SB 1196 would make sure that when a homeowner adds an ADU, they’ll be able to get a utility hook up without waiting months on end.

Thanks to The Casita Coalition, Housing Action Coalition and @cayimby.bsky.social for supporting SB 1196.

Homeowners and ADU builders are increasingly frustrated by long delays – up to a year – to obtain utility service connections.

The problem is, there are no clear rules for when a utility must hook up an accessory dwelling unit, or backyard cottage, and no consequences for delays.

Surging gas prices caused by Trump's ill-advised, unnecessary and costly war in Iran serves as a potent reminder of our need to transition away from fossil fuels and volatile price spikes.
