Under SB 1275, Californians who buy a car or truck would get a federal tax break that they don’t currently receive. The legislation, as a result, could boost vehicle sales in the state, and it won’t cost consumers or car dealers a thing. It’s a win-win proposal.
SB 1275 is an innovative proposal that would eliminate the state sales tax on motor vehicle purchases for five years and replace it with a vehicle license fee of the same amount that can be deducted from federal taxes.

Yes! The CA Senate Transportation Committee today gave bipartisan approval to my SB 1275, which would reduce the amount of money California sends to the federal government each year by about $250 million. Vote was 9-1.
SB 1011 would ensure human oversight when private and public utilities use AI in their electric and natural gas infrastructure, safety testing before deployment, and workforce protections to keep experienced professionals in control of critical utility infrastructure.

SB 1201 seeks to protect California's veterans and their families from significant federal cuts to CalFresh.
SB 1034 would reform state law so that disabled veterans no longer are forced to meet stricter medical eligibility requirements than other disabled Californians to access parking benefits.

Homeowners and ADU builders are increasingly frustrated by long delays – up to a year – to obtain utility service connections.
The problem is, there are no clear rules for when a utility must hook up an accessory dwelling unit, or backyard cottage, and no consequences for delays.
More great news! The CA Senate Energy Committee gave bipartisan approval to my SB 1196, which would direct the CPUC to establish clear timelines for utility hookups for ADUs and institute penalties for utilities that fail to provide timely service connections. Vote was 14-2.
