I think they picked up a lot of people who are subscribed to block lists for accounts that promote AI, NFT, Crypto etc

If you wonder why the "Quiet Posters" feed doesn't work for you anymore, it is because the @why.bsky.team subscribed to an anti-anti-ai block list, rendering it useless for over 300 000 users. Good job bsky team!!

Notice: If you are an environmentalist or environmental organization using AI to generate a "Happy Earth Day" graphics, I will be billing you for injuries I receive as a result of how hard I am side-eyeing you.

This image shows a person sitting on a bench seat inside a train or subway car, holding a large, fluffy dog on their lap. The dog has a thick, light gray to tan coat with a darker face, and its tongue is hanging out as it appears happily panting. The person is wearing a red jacket and blue jeans. The dog's leash is visible, and the person's hand is gently holding it. The window by their side lets in natural light, and blurred passengers can be seen seated further along the train.

asking "is there a royal you don't like?" in 2026 is dangerous territory for #InteriorDesignMasters, and Henry VIII is a cop out.

Digital drawing in white ink against a black background of a sweet donkey in profile facing left. Only their head and neck are visible and their short, upright mane is "dyed" the pink, blue and white of the trans pride flag.

Almost time for #TransArtMay, which is a thing I made up where I draw mostly animals of all kinds with the trans pride flag colors incorporated in some fashion.

What kinds of creatures would you like to see? Insects, fish, birds, mammals, invertebrates etc welcome! I could use ideas, help me out?

it's the same as the way some Christian sects teach that there's no such thing as gay people, only people who are sinning and claiming to be gay to justify it; big flag as to where this specific strain of TERFism originated, though i suspect a lot of the current proponates don't realise it.

ultimately, a certain proportion of them genuinely believe it's not possible to be trans. all trans people are therefore deluded or lying, and once they have decided someone is lying, all of their choices - their jobs, their hobbies, their bodily functions - are framed as pursuit of a nefarious end.

but it thinks it's statistically improbable that April 2026 has taken place (because it never took place during training!) so it assumes your data is fictional.

like you say, the whole thing is an example of why replacing employees with AI is so ludicrous!

1 day ago 0 0 0 0

you'd think that when you've directly pointed it at the current stats it would straightforwardly extrapolate from them - that's the whole point of training! so it can make predictions on new data! -

1 day ago 0 0 1 0

let me say first that you inspired the thoughts rather than being directly about your interaction, because obviously you've been at this for a while with the fantasy league, but the April thing was such a spot on example of the training issue :)

(a) bad optics to do it a lot and (b) bad optics to not do it as much as your rivals.

the idea that AI is constantly learning, like a person, is hype. it's also why it's so hard to figure out environmental impacts, because training is massively resource intensive, so they don't want you to think about how often they do it because:

they're trained on how to parse data based on what reasonable summaries of available data looked like in the last training session. if we all switched to reporting cop shootings in the active tense it would find it harder to summarise new reports (or invented new slang, or wrote in Latin...)

1 day ago 2 0 1 0

it's not to say it won't be saved and used, but training takes place at discrete intervals, which is why models get confused about what they perceive to be future dates. even something like Google's summaries are not training on the new data that appears online each day;

1 day ago 2 0 1 0

one of the misconceptions I've seen a lot recently is that AI is constantly 'training', that everything you put in is available to anyone else using the model immediately, when it's not even available to you in another session.

it's so hard to discuss with kids without triggering anxiety (i mean, adults too!), and i do think a lot of kids books struggle to find the line. I used to watch a ton of nature documentaries growing up, but so many end on hopeless notes now it's hard to share them with an already anxious child.

Small Child selected 'fact book' for a bedtime story tonight.
daddy: tadpoles can grow as big as a hot dog
SC: a hot tub?!

tbh, the real fact was bad, but monstrously large and warm tadpole is going to stick with me.

Photo of Pedro Pascal wearing a dark grey blazer and loosely tied necktie, paired with short blue denim jorts. He is holding some cream coloured roses in one hand and the other is over his crotch where he has suggestively tucked his index finger into his fly. You’re welcome.

I might be misreading things but it feels like the timeline could use a picture of Pedro Pascal in little shorty jorts

watching our way through Poirot, and the start of S3, especially the flashback to Poirot's first UK case during WW1 makes some sense of his friendship with Hastings, with a whisper of homoeroticism. Of course Poirot keep his precocious Himbo around for the next few decades.
