Because they knew if they could appeal to middle-class Black people, everyone would ignore poor Black people's cries.

This rap beef, despite how “entertaining” it was, is gonna end up being one of those canon moments that changed hip hop for the worse.
I’m sure some ppl can already see what I’m talking about but won’t say it because both fanbases have grown into cults
Intellectualism
I’m genuinely annoyed by Hip Hop, but don’t confuse me with one of those miserable old heads who can’t accept change. I only get annoyed because I truly love hip hop and I’m protective of it as well.
Kanye has a line where he says “checking ig comments to crowd source my self esteem”
And that is the most honest I’ve ever heard a rapper be about this specific topic, I personally doubt that any artist would be willing to be that honest because it would ruin the facade & eventually the money
There’s way too many artists just doing it for the ego and not the art, that’s why you got ppl who justify terrible music with numbers or status when we all know all that can be bought. If I’m famous and I gotta do all this to get you to say it’s good, was it really good? (Rhetorical)
I’m not delusional either, I don’t think I’m the best rapper to ever live nor do I have to be in order to be critical of the art being promoted to me. Hip hop is currently in place where being critical & tryna uphold a standard is frowned upon.
Someone being rich and successful is not an excuse for putting out subpar work. If the person is unknown and wack, nobody hesitates to say it’s wack.
So does the money, jewelry, status make you feel like you can’t be honest? (Rhetorical)
