I don’t believe that popular art = bad art but holy cats, it is too much to ask that Surrealist collections NOT be 80% Dali?

He paid a big settlement to one victim and was criminally tried for abusing another victim. These are not "controversies". They are facts.
I like this, but again, let's not call charges(and a trial) for child sexual abuse "controversies." www.pajiba.com/film_reviews...
I somehow missed that he did this in fucking Michigan. You know the state with some of the highest concentrations of Palestinian Americans and other Arab Americans.
Also J*ckson did not have "legal troubles". He was a serial child predator who settled for nine figures with one of his victims (in the '90s) and was on trial for abusing another child in the 00's. Let's say that! The culture's collective denial is ridiculous.
NEWS: A federal judge stopped the Trump administration’s plans to remove part of the 15th Street NW protected bike lane, just days before work was slated to begin.
It's not the final word: The ruling allows the administration to continue pursuing the removal.

DO NOT BE CONFUSED! These are TWO DIFFERENT movies about unrepentant pedophiles with the same title. Markus Schleinzer's 2011 pedophilia-themed drama MICHAEL is NOT the same movie as Antoine Fuqua's 2026 pedophilia-themed drama of the same title.
they are calling it the perfect summary of the "keep men out of women's sports" movement
Something which irritates me, even in the most vicious reviews of the M*chael J*ckson movie is: describing him as "childlike." No! He surrounded himself with animals and other things that kids like because he was a serial child predator, FFS! This is an MO for child predators. Stop being st*pid.
happy earth day. out of every place in the known universe, this is the only place we can survive without major intervention.
we are a blip in earth’s history. it will go on without us. but we are nothing without it.
I had to tell my trans friend (who wasn't in that district) that she seemed to be trans but just never talked about it.
A reminder that, until fairly recently, Br*anna W* was so self-hating she was, to most people, stealth. Like *she ran (poorly) for Congress* in *MA* in *2018* and was stealth throughout (and took off on vacation without even giving a concession speech: one of the shittiest candidates ever).
It’s easy to just be angry at the eugenic filth Wu is spouting, and obviously justifiable - but all I feel is sadness.
All I see is a person who has turned their grief and pain outward, clinging to a world view and community that will only ever hate her, only ever view her with disgust.
As a (tail-end) boomer I saw so many bad old films over and over on broadcast TV when I was a kid. That didn't make them good.
The original of that movie everyone is talking about was so bad that I swore off seeing mainstream movies that got "good" reviews for a long time. The reason you probably like it is because you saw it so often on cable. So I won't be surprised if the sequel is bad too.
Today is a good day to revisit this banger.
"Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” has become the #play to see this season. The August William classic stars Cedric the Entertainer and Taraji P. Henson. Per usual, Ruben Santiago Hudson, is brilliant on stage. #nyctheatre #theatre #nyc #broadway
I live in Boston, so drawing those shaky, nonsensical (to us) lines was literally a process of hundreds of years of manipulation. So miss me with that, "Oh no," reaction to Virginia. We live in a gerrymandered country.
The districts are so clumsily and confusingly drawn that I regularly get flyers for candidates who aren't running in my district. It's bad!
Screenshot of a social media post by Brianna Wu (@BriannaWu) that reads: "One of my biggest hopes for the future is that we can come up with some sort of test in utero to determine if a child is going to grow up to be transsexual, and then opt them out of the gene pool. It's, I can tell you firsthand, it's a horrific way to grow up, one that no ethical person should want to inflict on a child. The reason the trans community is so unstable online is the developmental damage that we invariably get. It's like a house being built where every floor is leaning, and by the time you get to the top, the entire structure is unstable. Repairing that damage has taken me a lifetime."
Brianna Wu advocates for the extermination of trans people by engaging in eugenicist selective abortions of fetuses determined to be trans.
To my eternal shame and consternation! On the same street, in the same zipcode with the line having no rhyme or reason. *Someone* drew that line there because it was politically advantageous for it to be there, probably so many years ago, no one knows the reason now.
It's almost as if they've never paid attention to this issue before! I live in a rock-solid blue state (with complex reasons for our Republican governors: the short answer is shitty Democratic leadership and misogyny) and my district is so gerrymandered I am across the street from Ayanna Pressley's
I can't believe there are people on my fucking timeline who are so clueless they think drawing voting districts was a previously pure and innocent practice that never involved gerrymandering!

Recent events are a somber reminder that domestic violence-related shootings are more prevalent than similar acts in public spaces.

Like Occupy! I mean there were problems (all completely wrapped up in toxic masculinity and women who were eager to appease and protect toxic men) but there was an organized police and municipal crackdown all around the country just a few months in.
I love the 80-something local political leader in Virginia who drew up this plan, L. Louise Lucas, telling worthless pieces of shit Tim Kaine and Mark Warner to fuck right off.
The organisms float in warm, brackish water, attaching themselves to plankton and algae and accumulating in prolific water-filtering species like clams and oysters.
