SO great to see you. It's a proper privilege to get to work with you.
I promise to talk about Greggs less next time.

Kent council bans transgender books in children’s library section KCC says the move came after a

Welcome to the new Section 28. Unofficially implemented by Reform. So angry I could scream right now.

As a reminder, Kent County Council, despite Section 28 being taken off legislative books in 2003, as voted for by parliament, maintained their own version until 2010.

For anyone interested in respectful form design, this is superb:

I've just deleted a webpage that was annually using the equivalant amount of:

- kWh of energy used to charge a smartphone 658 times
- CO2 produced boiling 473 cups of tea
- kWh of electricity used to drive an electric car 51km

The internet uses more electricity than the UK.
Delete digital waste.

GOV.UK proposition

Have you come across any good proposition statements other than this from GOV.UK?

Looking for examples for a proposition workshop to show what good looks like ☺️

Designing on a cold, rainy night in Stoke — Katherine Wastell Over the years in the teams I’ve led and supported, I’ve observed a unique skill-set in the designers with transformation experience. They’ve learnt how to do design in challenging, high-pressure envi...

There's been recent focus on hiring designers from big-name tech companies (lnkd.in/eEjxq8EQ). Their skills are impressive, no doubt.

But in today’s climate of cost-saving, organisations need designers with the hard-earned experience of a transformation.

AI has an environmental problem. Here’s what the world can do about that. The sprawling data centres that house AI servers churn out toxic electronic waste and are voracious consumers of electricity, which in most places is still produced from fossil fuels.

"A request made through ChatGPT, an AI-based virtual assistant, consumes 10 times the electricity of a Google Search"

This isn't a game. This is accelerated destruction via huge usage of power, water, resources etc. Stop using it - especially for messing about!!

Thanks for including this @amymcnichol.bsky.social @allconsuming.bsky.social ❤️

My first love was Oasis. If you didn't like Oasis, this essay is also about nostalgia and optimism, and hopefully you can substitute [oasis] with [your first band].

If you did like Oasis, press play on 'Whatever'.

Shop – I thought about that a lot A new anonymous essay published every day in December in the countdown to Christmas.

Friends! We only have a handful of books left. They include good words, 162 pages of munken pure rough 120gsm paper, lots of white space and cute illos.

TL;DR: they look and feel nice, and therefore make gorgey Christmas presents.

🤩 @mollywj.bsky.social, in her 'middle-age mum era', has written about fandom as grown up. "It feels special to be on the inside of something as remarkable as what she’s created, but also objective enough not to buy into every last element of it."

Do you know what a pouch of Douglas is? If you don't, find out in my short advent blog. It could come in useful one day...

Yep I know it is ironic staking claim to an anonymous essay I wrote about shutting up but I've wanted to write for @allconsuming.bsky.social since @amymcnichol.bsky.social started it and after @jo-scho.bsky.social managed to make this readable I am quite proud of it!

This one is written by my GCSE English teacher. A self-proclaimed feminist, he pushed us to challenge patriarchal values and gender binaries in class discussions in the early 00s. He and his classes have had a profound influence on the values I hold today.

His essay is terrifying.

Chuffed to bits that an essay I wrote is included in this beautiful book.
Each year, @amymcnichol.bsky.social lovingly and expertly curates a virtual advent calendar of things people have thought about during the year.
Now marking 5 years with this peak handsome book.
Thank you, I'm proud as punch
