"Bless you, great people, you are wonderful and you have a beautiful civilisation. Anyway, I'm going to destroy it tonight at 8. Nothing personal." Well. Being an idiot certainly doesn't hurt the idiot - it hurts those who have to deal with him.

AI is neither good nor bad. It’s just human nature that tends to fall into extremes when judging any given phenomenon.
It's a bit like that thing with programming these days - supposedly anyone can do it now. Sure, anyone can, but should they? I'm definitely not getting an Oscar for this "creation".
Interesting emotional expression, though massively exaggerated... and yeah, the acting's not exactly award-winning, and those 6 fingers in the last scene...
Sure, I had a bit of fun last night. On the other hand, I can hardly take credit - just a few prompts and lending my face to the cause.
When you ask AI to prepare a short clip that's supposed to illustrate your own determination to lose a few kilos, using your own app.
Ahh, if only it were all that simple. Democracy lets us choose leaders, the leaders are idiots, therefore the voters must be idiots too. How much easier it would be to come to terms with some human choices. But the truth is never that tidy...
I changed and experimented with a lot of things - in version 1.5 I can finally say I've reached a state I'm happy with. And after adding the Intermittent Fasting option, the whole thing took on a whole new dimension.

Over the weekend I pushed another update of my little app which - I was skeptical but curious - actually works!!!
Since January 1st, I've managed to drop just over 4kg already. Still a long journey ahead, another 20 to go, but... It's going well... so far...

Every time I see someone suggest "we could use an LLM for this", I hear "I don't care about this being done at a high quality".
That's fine, just be honest about it.
When I see people suggesting using LLMs to answer support tickets it shows me they don't give a shit about their customers.

I've finally cracked the code on team performance. 8 techniques, up to 10x velocity boost.

Just found a texture atlas from my old game Country Driver (2009 – where does the time go?! 😅). That bear character still makes me smile 🐻

Or maybe it is only a huge brain disease which spread across the Western world like a pandemic.
In 2020, life was rough. Then the pandemic hit. So I built a puzzle game and called it FULG - F****** Useless Logic Game 😄
5 years later, it's still on the App Store with a fresh update. Not bad for something "useless".

Sorry for long message 😇
Fortunately, that kind of thinking won't be acceptable everywhere. So I remain an optimist that deep knowledge - what you called "decades-old" (archaic?) - will become a scarce and highly sought-after commodity. 🙃
But here's the catch - even that knowledge will slowly atrophy when the deeper work in a given domain becomes increasingly shallow... Of course, one can always argue that maybe we don't need to understand how it works - as long as it works. 😉
Why are companies primarily hiring seniors in environments where AI is used seriously? Because seniors possess deep domain knowledge and can still understand the generated code.
Thomas, I think this is a bit of an oversimplification. Cognitive and brain research scientists have no illusions - heavy AI use promotes the decline of analytical and critical thinking. Without engaging the brain in deeper work, long-term memory doesn't get a chance to form, and so on.
8% from critics vs 99% from audiences. If this isn't manipulation, I only have two explanations: either only the faithful are watching (and there's no saving them), or... is it really THAT bad across the pond? 🍿
I like your optimism and somehow, I will try to find my own.
True, but I’ve noticed one huge problem: the more you use AI, the less you remember your own craft, and the risk of losing your skills is high. Is forcing ourselves to do “real” coding from time to time the only solution? Any ideas?
Apple's removing my game for not updating it. Thought it'd be a quick recompile... then I found a bug (the chain-linked blocks mechanic). Now I need to decode 3-year-old me's code. Wish me luck! 😅

Strange are the fates of mankind. "Dark ages": rulers by divine right could be idiots, common people had no say. 21st century: quality at the top hasn't improved. The shock? Now they're actually elected.
