"...landing pages are built for human users ... [but] your job is no longer to build a destination. It's to build a parts library." What a wild take. I hate this. The hits are coming hot and fast, and the dead internet theory is looking more and more realistic.

As the length of video game productions has swelled to 6+ years, many people are trying to figure out how to reverse that trend.
Here's some food for thought from the always-insightful Josh Sawyer, director of Fallout: New Vegas and Pentiment.

All the indie authors who use AI for their covers because “what am I supposed to do, I can’t afford an artist” would probably have a melt down if artists did paintings and had AI write books to go with the paintings.
Anyway, shout out to indie authors who have really bad photoshop covers.
As LLM use expands, “the models’ outputs…are reabsorbed into human discourse & shape users’ own expression & reasoning and, in turn, influence the data used to train future models, transforming homogenization from a passive bias into a structurally reinforced influence.”

Amazon holds engineering meeting following AI-related outages Amazon's ecommerce business has summoned a large group of engineers to a meeting on Tuesday for a "deep dive" into a spate of outages, including incidents tied to the use of AI coding tools. The online retail giant said there had been a "trend of incidents" in recent months, characterised by a "high blast radius" and "Gen-AI assisted changes" among other factors, according to a briefing note for the meeting seen by the FT. Under "contributing factors" the note included "novel GenAI usage for which best practices and safeguards are not yet fully established".

This is cool as hell: An app designed to ping people about nearby smartglasses.
Also cool: The creator was inspired by @404media.co coverage, a great illustration of why their journalism is so essential. This kind of work is funded by paid subscribers so become one of those if you can.

Here is one of the dumbest things about vibe coding that I don't see a lot of people talking about
Imagine you're an open source maintainer and someone opens up a pull request against your repository that they vibe coded. They may or may not tell you they vibe coded it; it doesn't really matter… 🧵

Well, it happens they were doing exactly that.

We’re entering the age of AI slop that people believe en masse.
This post is 100% fake and probably AI generated. All made up. Yet massive number of upvotes, views and shares.
Journalist @caseynewton.bsky.social got in touch with the “whistleblower.” The guy faked all “evidence” with AI…

So, I'm really kind of fucking annoyed and disappointed with Mozilla enabling AI in Firefox by default and not giving users a simple opt out switch.
I have disabled it in my firefox via 'about:config' , if you want to too, here's how to disable it completely or enable certain bits you find useful
