That is the silliest name for a conference I’ve seen in a while

Technically not completely because wafrn, right?
+1 on nice place to visit, I wandered for a while and bought some film from a local place.
I also went to Cape Breton and Halifax (I thought it was cool Halifax had all the signage in Mi'kmaq and French). I have to check if I took any photos while I was sailing around Canada.
PEI mention 😮
See if it was LA they would try to run you over but couldn’t b/c they’re gridlocked in 5 lane traffic. 🤭
I think I still have to put LA drivers above whatever nonsense is occurring in Florida. It’s anarchy with those golf carts (ex: Ft. Lauderdale, Key West is more chill/walkable).
I did it once for a study (completely different reason) and I felt like a cyborg all wired up.
Yeah I just meant as another point in the design space to ponder.
I love the code as art because it leads to asking very weird questions and answering them sincerely.
And pretty UIs/visuals are always great.
The yeast is out of the office, raise a ticket when they get back 🎟️
Also zig++
Are you familiar with www.ponylang.io? It’s another language I think of when I think actor model but trying to be performant and it has reference capabilities in its type system for describing how data is shared.
This makes memory management really nice to deal with I’m assuming?
no (leavened) bread just vibes, chag sameach (happy holidays)
the VM apparently is mostly selfhosted so it’s actually objects™️ all the way down
I have so many questions about what it’s like to use this
It makes me curious what a true modern Smalltalk like language (ex: Pharo) would be like to use.
…what do you mean I download an entire VM image with the full toolset installed where everything is inspectable with a GUI interface [1] O_o
1) pharo.org/features
and here I thought Electron based GUIs for SpaceX’s Dragon consoles was cursed
Yeah that stuff is pretty nasty (sharp?)
If I was an astronaut on a return mission to the moon (I know Artemis is just orbiting), I call dibs on the moon hasselblads left there 🌖 📸
I'm assuming devs have made some kind of api sandbox or "testnet" to play around with it?
where would one start to even begin to understand how to integrate PIX into something?
This is just from pure curiosity on my part
@witchcraft.systems has a wii server wii.witchcraft.systems
(oh no it's down right now!)
A screenshot of a donation confirmation page. At the top is a circular logo featuring a stylized, two-toned blue letter "W". Below the logo, bold text reads "You bought Wafrn a Coffee!". Underneath is a comment from a user named Jack, whose avatar is a light green circle with a simple smiley face. The comment, posted "just now", reads: "penance for asking for wafrn in nixpkgs".
I had a vague idea of digital yard sale app
@gabboman.xyz not to add more to the wafrn devs' plate(s) but nixpkgs PR for wafrn nix package/nixos module would be nice
🥺👉👈 ❄️
^I might eventually try to do this if no one else does first
...whelp guess who didn't read the source before linking 🙋♂️🤡
I swear there's a nix flake in the repo... I guess someone needs to make a PR to nixpkgs
update: I checked yep codeberg.org/wafrn/wafrn/...
maybe we need some way of doing blob pointers in a PDS and a blob storage service so Bailey doesn't get sad when someone uploads the entire backlog of Berkeley's educational content [1] to selfhosted.social

interface-wise there's @skytube.video which I think is still essentially a (nice looking) alt client for viewing bluesky videos
methinks the translation doesn't capture the intent of the Japanese exactly
