Oh yeah, there's a new Filipino shop in Haymarket. To my knowledge it's the first and only one. Before you had to go all the way to Glasgow.

Katie Mack: honestly climate change scares the hack out of me and it makes me so sad to see what we’re losing because of it

Gary P Jackson: maybe you should learn some actual SCIENCE the , and stop listening to the global warming SCAM

Katie Mack: I dunno man, I already went and got a PhD in astrophysics. Seems like more than that would be overkill at this point.

After a SNES Mouse the next logic step would be... a USB Mouse on #GameBoy.

Modified the Inside Gadgets USB keyboard adapter firmware to work with a mouse.

my favorite computer i got at VCF SoCal: Rockwell AIM-65 from 1978, from original owner! it cost $200 total and she gave me 6502 programming books, cassette tape, the original documentation, and cassette drives.

only thing i need to fix are the keyboard switches, a middle column isn’t working.

Fun fact! Motorola is called that because they made car radios.

The Victor company produced the wildly popular Victrola line of phonographs, which later began to incorporate radio receivers as well. The "-ola" suffix was so synonymous with audio that radios for cars became "motorolas"

GitHub - buckket/twtxt: Decentralised, minimalist microblogging service for hackers. Decentralised, minimalist microblogging service for hackers. - buckket/twtxt

I was browsing some #IndieWeb sites the other day and found this little thing:

"Decentralised, minimalist microblogging"

Haven't tried it yet (I'm not sure if people even still use it), but it looks interesting. It's using plaintext files, which it scrapes for new posts.

It was so nice to see snow in #Edinburgh today. Shame it melted the moment it hit the ground, though.

I have to download my e-books from #Amazon soon to back them up. Fortunately I haven't connected my ancient #Kindle to the Internet in ages, so I shouldn't have to worry about any "lock-outs", but I still need to download the books from the website before this option disappears.

So I gave up on my Tor relay. He had trouble working, even though the ports were opened. Last time it stopped working for no reason I said I would stop hosting it if there was some random issue again. This is it.

We can trade in Pokemon TCG Pocket now! The token thing is annoying, but expected. Don't forget to update your app.

I really like my current laptop battery. It's amazing how long it lasts while my laptop is asleep. (Context: my old battery lasted about 30 minutes.)

Star Trek The Original Series scene. We're in an earth looking 1950s office setting and see Kirk looking totally unbothered, sitting in his captains uniform. Standing over him are two police types with guns on their hips and official jackets and fancy police hats standing around him as if he's being detained and interrogated.
Picture 1: "Is that a uniform of some kind?"
Picture 2: Kirk holds hands up, looks down at himself, caption reads, "This little thing?"
Picture 3: Kirk looks up at officer fella with a cheeky smile, caption reads, "Just something I slipped on."

It's just strange he couldn't register on DGS. The server still functions, I am in middle of 3 games there myself.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

It seems like DGS doesn't let people register anymore? My brother was trying to make an account there so we could play correspondence games and it would not let him register for whatever reason.

He made an account on OGS in the end, so that's sorted.

Facebook flags Linux topics as 'cybersecurity threats' — posts and users being blocked DistroWatch is one of the largest affected organizations.

This is obviously not the worst thing happening (by far) on Facebook, but it's strange.

Block AI scrapers with Anubis I got tired with all the AI scrapers that were bullying my git server, so I made a tool to stop them for good.

It's ridiculous people have to do things like this to protect themselves from AI scrapers. It's also unfortunate (as mentioned in the article) that this cuts off some legitimate users.
