Oh how I wish the DC museums had quiet hours! Even with noise cancelling headphones the screaming and speakerphone conversations are way too much

I’m disgusted that they skipped the most important part of American Idiot
They skipped the key part of American Idiot and brought a bunch of old football players on stage instead 🤦🏻♀️
I’m so disappointed in Green Day.
The articulation mess 😬
Yes they have in-ears but it’s not the same and I’m confident several of the musicians are cussing in their heads
We need music education in schools so there’s less wild orchestra setups like whatever is happening in the opening ceremonies…
Opening ceremonies nature/city dance is giving apocalyptic hellscape and I don’t like it
CHARLES RAFFERTY The Problem with Early Warnings People don't like to leave a party unless the house is actually on fire. Even then, if the flames are far enough away to be pretty, they'll finish their drink, take one more pass at the hors d'oeuvres. How things happen has always been unclear. Hurricanes begin in a place where no one lives. Agents of the government start to wear masks. Fascism is a word my neighbors won't use yet. They are following the law, they say, and the sirens are coming for someone else.
This hit so fucking hard today.
There’s No Place Like Home from Wicked For Good is the older sibling of Home from the Wiz. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
Watching local election results come in this year is like watching a car crash 😖
Absolutely heartbreaking… another case of the system failing everyone involved www.wcvb.com/article/teen...
The system is broken, and it’s breaking people. Doing this work in this moment is too much.

Two days back at work and this is how I’m coping 😴
A paper chain hangs from a hook against a wall. A strip of paper is held in front
When you have to deal with two egregious contract violations before the school year even starts, you start a countdown of paper chain before the first day. 1 down, 182 to go. (And before anyone gets on my case about the impact on kids, this is in my home, not my classroom)
This is fascism. Also alarming complicity with fascism from the DC Mayor buried at the end:
"So we are going to keep talking to the president, working with his people on the issues that are a high priority for him," Bowser said.
Thank you! I was in Portland in July, it’s a great city!
Do you end up layering a lot in the summer? I keep seeing the layering advice but I’m trying not to overpack
What do you MEAN a hoodie, denim jacket, and long sleeve shirt in addition to my plane zip up have to fit in my suitcase?
Trying to pack for San Francisco and Seattle, but multiple layering pieces in summer feels wrong
August is the Sunday of months.
I was a music major which meant 8AMs nearly every semester of college… but pretty much never morning GenEds!
I took linguistics (because it let me avoid taking math) and it was by far one of the most interesting classes I ever took.
Always thankful for my union family. May we keep hoping, dreaming, and fighting together 💙
Book cover to something, someday by Amanda Gorman and Christian Robinson
Page of “something, someday”: “Sometimes you feel like you’re all alone. But someday, somewhere, You find a friend. Someone who will hope with you, Who believes in your dream. Someone who will fight with you.
Went to Powell’s to try to get a physical copy of On Tyranny (when @neapresident.bsky.social gives directions at #NEARA, I listen). They’re sold out! I was able to order it, and ship a whole bunch of other books home, including this beautiful picture book.
Another #NEARA in the books! Always one of the most energizing, and most exhausting, weeks of the year. Seeing the brilliance of so many educators and union leaders in one space is always inspiring, but even more so in this moment.
Tomorrow’s side quest: acquiring Garrett’s popcorn in the 20 minutes between flights at MDW
It's so dysfunctional. I flew domestically with my passport this month and got pulled for "random" additional ID check both ways 😔
Packing is way more stressful than traveling
"Real ID" seems a lot more ominous now than when it initially rolled out in MA... We needed long form, sealed copies of everything to substantiate name, citizenship, residency, any name changes, etc.
