I should also look out for unusual behavior on campus like - guy walking with bag or students in large groups but also student not in large group.

Took an active shooter training today and I didn’t expect such a large part of the training to include discussion on “growth mindset”

Im always learning about a new (to me) Excel formula that will change my life and then discovering our district doesn’t subscribe to the version of Excel that does Excel.

Such a great opportunity to transfer public funds to tech companies!

I’m afraid AI has already cooked the brains of the leadership at my college. Or we have a body snatcher situation happening. I don’t know how to explain it.

There are Sara’s and Sarah’s I’ve known all my life and I live in fear of accidentally adding or omitting an H. That H is powerful.

This a real “Do as I say, not as I do” for me. 🫣

those libraries you love, that make access to media seem so smooth that make you feel like you don’t even have to interact with anyone, feel that way because People Work There to make that happen For You.

notions of seamlessness are powered by invisible labor & the strategic distribution of capital

And that is not to take away from the valid criticisms of the Catholic Church - there’s a reason my dad didn’t stay and my cousins who were raised in the church have left. Just saying it’s odd to see Catholics align themselves with people who would have killed them.

So I’ve been mystified by these ultra-conservative new Catholics who think they’ll be accepted into the white supremacist evangelical world they’re helping build.

Growing up classmates, their parents, and my teachers would all tell me I was going to hell if I told them I didn’t go to church. When I started saying I went to the Catholic church with my Mamaw the response was “that’s worse”.

I grew up in an evangelical community run by the kind of people now running our country (scary!)

My parents didn’t raise me religious but my dad’s family was Catholic so I did a lot of weddings, funerals, and mass whenever I spent weekends with my grandparents (Mamaw and Papaw because KY)

If the valley isn’t part of LA, why did I just almost get in a wreck because I was startled by a guy juggling in the middle of an intersection?

And we are the first to accept complaint - and I love telling people their complaint is spot on, explaining the part of the system creating the issue, the work staff have done to convince management it’s a problem, and giving them the info they need to yell at someone in charge.

I know the same thing happens when public works folks are in the street filling potholes or janitorial staff in public parks are taking out the trash. All public employees present in their neighborhoods are helping to connect people to the systems that run our communities.

And the biggest part is being present in the community - when I worked bookmobile and we were parked outside schools in neighborhoods, community members would sometimes walk up while we ate lunch to return books, ask us about the library, or even toss us a few reference questions.

We need Democrats to make up for decades of Reagan era propaganda by showing us what public servants actually do with limited resources.

No politician is perfect but of all the PR campaigns I’ve seen, I love catching videos of Mamdani working alongside public service staff - showing us the on-the-ground work of public servants.

It’s boiling hot and there are no doors to open. The carpet cleaning has kicked up a ton of dust which has me coughing and wheezing. They would rather we be unproductive and miserable in the office than productive at home.

Why is staff morale low?

Carpets on our floor and office are being cleaned today so when we arrive to work we learn we need to work in the basement on public computers without access to our coffee, lunch, supplies, projects, resources.

Why is staff morale so low?

Why did [college leader] just imply custodians can’t read during this staff training?

Leadership: ban remote work, require staff to work on ground during Spring Break, turn off HVAC system because campus is closed 🙃

I didn’t realize there were broadcasts of SCOTUS hearings now and I really prefer hearing their voices through Nina Totenberg.

Highlight sentence after sentence that I want to quote in meetings with leadership.

“You don’t have to complain about unsafe conditions unless you have them”

It’s incredible to read someone put into words and validate what you’ve felt for so long - and connect it to so many other stories of people whose experiences mirror your own.

Genuinely what has ever been improved without people complaining?

Sara Ahmed’s new book “No! the Art and Activism of Complaining” was on my door when I arrived home yesterday and the timing couldn’t have been better.

It’s Spring Break so enjoying the time by going to a library where the carpets are being cleaned, everything is stacked on tables, and the air has been turned off because why would anyone be in the building?

Anyway - we treat elderly people, sick people, and disabled people like shit in this country. None of these services should be for profit and for profit services DEFINITELY shouldn’t be able to collect (grift) public Medicare funds. Everything could be so much better.

Without hospice she’ll return to the bare minimum and inconsistent services provided by her understaffed facility. It’s amazing how much her health improved with hospice and a fucking tragedy that we might have to watch her decline again without it. Dementia doesn’t get better!
