Similar to Chat-GPT, Spotify marginalises already marginalised voices while pretending to offer choice

Here’s my ethical dilemma for you today.
Up till a month ago, millions of people justified their continued use of Twitter by saying there wasn’t an alternative.
Right now, a handful of my friends are justifying their continued use of Spotify by saying there isn’t an alternative.
Really?
I do find it weird the way people seem to be so passionate about defending Spotify though, whether they themselves behave ethically (in terms of buying music) or not.
I thought I’d share my Spotify end-of-year playlist with you

So nice to see so many people unembarrassed by their support for Spotify
What other ways can you ensure musicians won’t be paid for Christmas?
If you know me here, please make yourself visible so I can start following you.
What’s your favourite record label?
I’ll start you. Stax.
In 2024, there has been an unprecedented increase in the use of the word unprecedented
I know right!
Ten of my favourite movies:

Is that enough? Loving the tumbleweed blowing through the new world order.
2/3 … TikTok deliberately alienating and Instagram weirdly impenetrable. At least with FB I can say stuff and post videos, even if it is horrendously censorious. I prefer an echo chamber to unfunny hate. Whatever. Am I supposed to add hashtags now? Ok. #################
1/3 Please follow me. Or not. Quite honestly I couldn’t care either way, as I have no idea how any of this works and can’t be arsed to find out. It doesn’t seem very straightforward. I never bothered looking at Twitter the whole time I was on it, Threads is just nonsense…
Well done to all the people who’ve been queuing up to be seen proudly leaving Twitter in recent days.
Maybe next time you could do it *before* the election.
You don’t think that by staying on that social media platform for as long as you did, you were - in your own way - helping to enable fascism?
I’m that old I can remember a time before Oasis represented the worst aspects of bloated, uncaring, exploitative capitalism and lad culture; and felt genuinely exciting, a new hope.
That reformed Oasis set list in full
1. Bang A-Gong (Get It On)
2. How Sweet To Be An Idiot
3. Octopus’s Garden
4. My Sweet Lord
5. I’d Like To Trach The Workd To Sing
6. The One I Love
7. With A Little Help From My Friends
8. Uptight (Everything’s Alright)
9. Pretty Flamingo
10. Rain
Thank you
I’ve had my first haircut in over a year. And I’m listening to the first Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark album, purchased for a pound on Saturday. C’mon, someone show me a little love.
What’s a ‘starter pack’?
Got a little carried away at Brunswick Square fair on Saturday. £44, all in.
I’m on Bluesky. I will refrain from making obvious comments about feeling inside an ELO song, and ask simply this.
What happens next?
