I think this game could've easily gotten GOTY awards last year if it had any console releases and if it didn't have the misfortune of releasing the same year as another excellent indie game known as Balatro. It really deserves a lot more attention

And there's so many genres of games. Its bewildering that the real life game only had a team of 6 people since you need intimate understanding of so many gaming genres to accomplish this. And every game is competently made with very little in the way of glitches

UFOsoft has team members who's names you'll see across multiple games. A company mascot. Sequels they've made and are in UFO 50. Games that were apparently commercial failures. Games employees made in their free time that weren't released. There's even betas you can unlock

The first game in the collection, Barbuta, has no music, very simple and barebones controls and Atari 2600 graphics quality while the last game Cyber Owls is damn near a SNES game with voice acting. You see UFOsoft become a more confident developer as you go

Every game in the collection has a fictional year of release alongside fictional credits of people who worked on the game and the kind of conditions and inspirations that led to it. If you play the games in release order you can see the technical power of each game slowly rising

If UFO 50 was just a collection of 50 games it would already be great but the fact the whole thing is tied together into this meta narrative about the rise and fall of this fictional game developer in the 80s is what takes it to the next level
