I work in IT, which is the reason our house has:
- mechanical locks
- mechanical windows
- routers using OpenWRT
- no smart home crap
- no Alexa/Google Assistant/...
- no internet connected thermostats
Tech Enthusiasts: Everything in my house is wired to the Internet of Things! I control it all from my smartphone! My smart-house is bluetooth enabled and I can give it voice commands via alexa! ! love the future!
Programmers/ Engineers: The most recent piece of technology I own is a printer from 2004 and keep a loaded gun ready to shoot it if it ever makes an unexpected noise.

What people think happens when using Linux:

There is a picture of a BootDevice Not Found error.

What actually happens:

There are four pictures that depict better performance, customize your setup, pick your favourite distro, and the BootDevice Not Found error.

Happy birthday to Tom Kane!

Kane voiced Yoda, Yularen, and the narrator in The Clone Wars, in addition to many other Star Wars characters.

In 2020, Kane suffered from a stroke that forced him to retire from acting.

May the Force be with you, always 💚

It's #PortfolioDay and I'm Owen Dennis!

I created a TV show called Infinity Train and another called Among Us! I just finished an independently made pilot (Deathahedron) and I have about 100 other shows, movies, and comic pitches I'm working on.

I'm open to showrunning and writing positions!

A drawing of a Muppet-y Cloud Strife riding on a Big-Bird-like chocobo.

From this day in 2021: My nephews were curious about Final Fantasy after seeing a Moogle I drew and I described Chocobos as looking "kind of like Big Bird" so then I had to draw it.

There is a picture of Bill Gates and Linus Torvalds standing together.

Below, there is a very real thread where Bill says, "What does VIBE in "Vibe Coding" stand for?

To which Linus Torvalds replies, "Very inefficient but entertaining."

Scrambled 2x2 puzzle that if completed would be a penguin; however, as it is scrambled, the lower and upper halfs are missmatched into an unholy (or holy?) abomination.

I still need to finish it, but the slow/"non-plot" episodes are what I love about it. It makes the characters feel more real and really adds to the dynamic and building of them as a found family.

I have the same feelings towards Frieren and the downtime episodes.

Happy First Contact Day!

In 37 years, Vulcans will set foot on Earth. More importantly, the Phoenix will be the first human ship to reach Warp 1!

Incidentally, it's also the birthday of the son of Ronald D. Moore, co-writer of Star Trek: First Contact (1996). Happy birthday, Jonathan.

“I will NOT sacrifice the Oxford comma. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They assimilate the em dash and we fall back. They capture ‘not just X but y’ and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!”

This month in KDE Linux: March 2026 Welcome to the March 2026 edition of development news for KDE Linux, KDE’s up-and-coming general-purpose operating system. I’m going to try to publish one of these posts every month, so…

"This Month in #KDELinux" brings the news that...

You should never deploy alpha software in production machines 😬! A systemd bug broke booting an updated system, a systemd update broke Discover, but the good news is everything has been sorted and hardened now.
