Global capitalism was already marked by weak growth, mounting public and private debt, and overcapacity in many sectors. The war is intensifying all of these problems and pushing an already unstable system toward a much more serious breakdown.

For someone who campaigned on a cast-iron promise to strengthen Medicare and not start “new wars,” saying that the federal government can’t “take care of day care, Medicaid, Medicare[…]” is a stark U-turn that may put the health care access of tens of millions of Americans at risk.

Seven months before the midterms, Trump's approval rating is below 50% in 135 Republican-held districts, meaning many of those seats could be in deep trouble.
On Tuesday evening, as the anxiety, hurt and fear of millions settled into an uneasy and impermanent sense of relief, one sentiment was widely expressed: this is no way to live.
Canada’s left-leaning New Democratic Party has elected a new leader, Avi Lewis, whose campaign drew comparisons to the politics and style of Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Zohran Mamdani.
The demand for all enriched uranium to exit Iran has seemingly not previously been discussed publicly by the Trump administration, until Trump began floating the idea in recent days. “We want no enrichment, but we also want the enriched uranium,” Trump said to CNN in late March.
A plan to raid Iran's uranium stockpiles could involve thousands of troops to work in secret to recover radioactive material that’s buried deep underground, while other specialized operatives build a runway so that the uranium can be loaded onto a cargo plane and flown out of the country.
This comes after conflicting reports on whether or not Iran would be allowed to enrich uranium as part of the ceasefire agreement. “Acceptance of enrichment” was part of the Farsi-language version, but not the English one.
Pete Hegseth and Benjamin Netanyahu have issued a new demand that Iran forfeit its uranium stockpile, or else face renewed attacks or a ground operation by the U.S. and Israel — a threat levied just hours after the start of a fragile temporary ceasefire.
Former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee next week, will not do so, following the Department of Justice stating that, since being fired by President Donald Trump last week, she can no longer appear as a representative of the administration.
That figure is likely a vast underestimate given the explosion of new facilities being built, but already makes the tax break one of the state’s costliest incentive programs and soon to be the most expensive of its kind in the nation.
Texas will lose out on at least $3.1 billion in sales tax revenue over the next two years thanks to an exemption for the state’s booming data center industry, according to the comptroller’s office.
AOC reiterated that the call for Trump to be impeached or removed from office remains as urgent as ever after his genocidal threat toward Iran, regardless of the president’s announcement of a temporary ceasefire on Tuesday evening. AOC said the deal “changes nothing.”
Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez welcomed the ceasefire in Iran but clarified, “this momentary relief cannot make us forget the chaos, the destruction, and the lives lost. The government of Spain will not applaud those who set the world on fire just because they show up with a bucket.”
Amid the Trump administration’s fuel blockade on Cuba, officials have said that in the case of mass emigration, Cubans may be held at Guantánamo. The problems there are not only legal or moral — Guantánamo is structurally incapable of holding any number of people humanely.
Reports on Wednesday also said that Iranian officials are incensed over the bombardments and say that Lebanon was included in the deal. One source reportedly told Iran’s Tasnim News Agency that Iran would not reopen the strait if Israel continues bombarding Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he supports the 10-point ceasefire deal for the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, but claimed that the deal did not include Lebanon. Trump also claimed that the deal did not include Lebanon, directly contradicting a statement from the PM of Pakistan.
The death toll is unclear, but early reports have said that hundreds have been killed by the strikes. The Guardian reported that Lebanese people are circulating pictures of children found in the rubble of buildings destroyed by Israel in hopes of identifying them and finding their families.
Israeli forces launched some of the most intense bombardments of Lebanon in recent years on Wednesday, striking Beirut and towns and cities across the country just hours after a ceasefire deal that reportedly includes Lebanon was announced.
“We’re thinking of doing it as a joint venture,” Trump said, referring to the strait. “It’s a way of securing it. It's a beautiful thing.” However, Iran's 10-point plan calls for Iran to manage the strait without U.S. involvement and the removal of the U.S. military from the region.
Extremely weird people are complaining about Iran "winning the war." They were attacked out of the blue. 3500 Iranian people were killed. The US and Israel bombed infrastructure, schools, and healthcare facilities. People are still terrified. No one won, as anyone who knew anything always predicted.
The prohibition of racial discrimination in voting and the right to have absentee ballots counted are in grave peril.
“The enemy, in its unfair, unlawful, and criminal war against the Iranian nation, has suffered an undeniable, historic, and crushing defeat,” that statement read. “Our hands remain on the trigger.” The reporting of that statement upset Trump, who claimed on Truth Social that it was “a FRAUD.”
On Tuesday evening, following the announcement of a tentative ceasefire agreement with Iran, Trump accused CNN of falsely reporting a statement from some of Iran’s leaders that claimed victory over the United States in the war that has been waged over the past month.
"We also need to address the dehumanization that persists in every single aspect of American life... that has sent us down the path in which Trump can threaten to annihilate a civilization & we find ourselves with few answers about how to stop it."

Several Democratic lawmakers in Congress are calling for the immediate removal of President Donald Trump from office, through the use of terms laid out in the 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, given the disturbing genocidal social media post he issued. But is it plausible?
What is the 25th Amendment, and can it be used to remove Trump from office?

Democratic leaders’ statement stands in sharp contrast to the strong and immediate calls from many members, as it makes no mention of taking any form of action, whether whipping votes for a war powers vote or an impeachment push.
