The female gaze is not just the male gaze but with an Uno-reverse-card, despite social media trends calling whatever male celebrity of the week a treat for the female gaze. The female gaze was meant to be a framework to deconstruct not just who is the spectator, but who is the maker, and subject.
I see bsky has reached the same critical mass as tw*tter where we have the same conversations where the popular conception of “gaze” in media is still presumed to be whatever a gender would consider attractive/pleasurable instead of understanding gaze as a framework to discuss objects and subjects.
