I still did it though! That’s what it is to live in a society.

I have fond memories of summer 2020 despite the horrors because we could go outside and see people, but by that winter I was living alone and saw people in person maybe three times total. It was awful.

I got into an argument with someone on Twitter in 2021 when I posted something about being devastated that Omicron could lock me up alone in my apartment all winter again. She said “it’s not that hard to isolate.” She lived with her husband. I didn’t even have a pet.

Delightful to have so much free time this spring/summer now that I don’t have to think about the Mets at all.

The rest of the Dublin Murders series is hit or miss but these first two books are astounding. (Broken Harbor also very very good imo)

"They’re not interested in press freedom." Margaret Sullivan on journalism's billionaire barons and the Substack upstarts out-hustling them. Someone once called her New York Times position "the worst job in journalism." Now she's watching the watchdogs from the outside.

I recently interviewed the great @sulliview.bsky.social for @longlead.com's Depth Perception newsletter. We talked about the NYT public editor role (which she held for 3.5 years), among other things. Check it out!

The Swalwell story not only rings true but is backed by so much sourcing that anybody refusing to accept it has no objective truth nor rational belief system

there are so many consequences of everyday people not really understanding how journalism works and people on here thinking there was some sort of massive media coverup of Eric Swalwell being a monster fundamentally is rooted in total misunderstanding of what real reporting requires.

I sincerely believe i would have a shot at winning all 50 states in a presidential election running on the single issue of making it illegal for businesses not to have conspicuously displayed customer service numbers that lead to call centers that must be staffed by humans
