tried making chicken jerky for the first time and I was so worried about under-cooking the chicken that I way over-cooked it so now instead of chicken jerky I have chicken crisps. And I gotta say... not bad.

well, the debate is over as to who is third chair. It's Avatar Man.

this week's '10 Interesting (To Me) Stats' newsletter - free to sub! - looks at improvements in the tracking data (from @allthreezones.bsky.social) from young players like Jack Quinn, Kasper, Bourque, Benson, Eklund, Carlsson, and more substack.com/home/post/p-...
to me, this indicates a young, budding top-6 player adding dimensions to his game while trying to find consistency rather than a one-year wonder who turns into a bust
list of 10 largest gaps between Evolving Hockey's xG RAPM model and actual goal differential. Cozens, Kasper, Kyrou, Bratt, Rodrigues, Miller, Hertl, Meier, Gourde, and Doan are the 10 names.
if you look at @evolvingwild.evolving-hockey.com's RAPM model, among 211 forwards with at least 900 minutes at even strength this season, Kasper was 210th by differential between his xG and actual goals. This is the top (or bottom) 10. That is a pretty good list to belong to
Marco Kasper is the guy that really stood out for me here because he clearly did not have a good season by goal differential, and that's what ultimately matters, but there was a genuine playmaking improvement while maintaining solid-to-good defensive play.

Foerster is a legit #2 scoring winger (maybe a 3/4 on a true Cup contender) and Martone has looked every bit the top-6 producer he's expected to be. If Martone keeps having a Sennecke-like impact on the Flyers' offence, this team in April is not the same team from December-March
Something I wrote about either in my Ramblings playoff preview of the Flyers (dobberhockey.com/2026/04/17/r...) is that yes, they were great defensively in the second half, but adding Tyson Foerster and Porter Martone late in the season makes the offence much deeper than it had been
Spence is +1/-2 by goals for/against at 5v5, and that's all that really matters in the playoffs, but being such a big positive by shot and xG differential on a team decidedly losing those battles overall is pretty wild
Ottawa shot and xG differential at 5v5 with Jordan Spence on the ice through two games: +13 and +1.67
Ottawa shot and xG differential at 5v5 with Jordan Spence off the ice through two games: -24 and -3.47
(per @naturalstattrick.com)
this entry/puck protection from Draisaitl is one of those situations where he gets a secondary assist but the goal is entirely because of his work
today's Ramblings has been updated with all the top fantasy performances from last night, and I also did a quick overview of my Best Ball teams from the regular season dobberhockey.com/2026/04/21/r...
Sometimes I really miss playing contact, competitive hockey and then I see a hit like the one Trenin just took and think “nah I’m good”
Holy shit Ullmark
It’s been a slow rise over the last 12 months but the Stankoven/Blake duo has become such a fun pair to watch every game and they’re only gonna get better.
Quake
I know Stankoven has been in on all three CAR goals so far this series, but Svech has some real That Boy Nice energy going through four periods.
I don’t think his qualifies as a conspiracy theory by definition, but ‘The Universe Is A Hologram’ sounds way too cool to not believe in

for sure. I'm not a Sabres fan and the replays still give me goosebumps. Just incredible scenes.
think this is my favourite reaction shot from after the Samuelsson goal. Dude in the top-right looks like he just found god while (what I assume is) the dad/daughter combo at the bottom look like they just won the lottery
lmao just one game but it's a great start
MTL xG allowed last night:
- HockeyViz has them at 1.0 xG against at even strength
- NatStat has them at 0.74 xG against at 5v5
- MoneyPuck has them at 0.79 xG against at 5v5
Slaf's hat trick and all the penalties will get the headlines, but that is a shutdown defensive performance.
I would feel bad for the security and ushers, BUT…
Absolutely not expecting it, but it would be nice. As a treat.
I’m a bit biased here, but I think a Habs/Sabres second round matchup would fucking rock.
Writing about Jack Quinn later this week but that play is a nice preview of my conclusion: Jack Quinn rules and is only getting better.
Tagé such a beast holy shit
