CW: Slime (audio warning)
It's very important to have someone supervising when conducting experiments with slimes. To take notes yes, but also to ensure the slime is properly hydrated to keep the experiment going as long as possible.

I Want An Excuse To Share This One: Esselfortium - Future Human
Esselfortium is a musician I first found through classic doom maps, but that path took me to all of her albums, and I love her ability to weave a narrative and atmosphere without any vocals at all. She doesn't have a single weak link.
Best for Working Out: Carpenter Brut - Trilogy
Trilogy is banned from my driving playlist. It's just TOO good at getting blood and adrenaline pumping, and if I heard it while on the road I'd be flying down the highway at like three hundred miles per hour somehow.
Best For Studying: desert sand feels warm at night - 夜道
I love me a good slushy soundscape when I'm working, writing, what have you, and this album does more than provide, as is to be expected from dsfwan (say that acronym three times fast.) He simply doesn't miss.
I Like It, But Everyone Hates It: Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera
The mixing isn't very good, I'll admit, but I just can't dislike an album that includes Battlefield. Blind Guardian were at the top of their songwriting game for this, and it shows in every track.
I Hate It, But Everyone Likes It: Metallica - Death Magnetic
Less "everyone like it" and more "people see it as a return to form after St. Anger." I vehemently disagree. Metallica still can't edit a song down, they've still forgotten how to play a good solo, and they *still* can't mix for shit.
Not Usually My Thing, But...: Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
I'm not deeply steeped in rap - please be patient with this lifelong metalhead. I first heard this album in 2024 where it dropped into my gut and stayed there to this day. "FEAR." in particular is a song that continues to haunt me.
Underrated: a-ha - Scoundrel Days
Underrated from a US perspective, I should clarify. I think it's a crime that we didn't give a-ha another hit over here. The title track alone should've lit the charts on fire, damnit. October is such a melancholy song, perfect for the vibes just before winter.
Overrated: Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast
Okay, hear me out. The good tracks on here are some of the best tracks Iron Maiden ever put out, I concede this. But can you look me in the eye, and tell me honestly that you still remember Invaders? Gangland? 22 Acacia Avenue? Most of this is faff.
Bad Day Cure: Witch Bolt - The Collector
Witch Bolt's vibes are always so calming and soft. It's the perfect cure to a rough day, a shitty and boring meeting. When I listen to the Collector, I never fail to take a few deep breaths, reflect on everything, and come out the other side feeling better.
Personal Impact: Pink Floyd - The Wall
Maybe it's because I was a teen when I first heard it, but The Wall spoke to me. I think it had a lot to say back then, if extremely unsubtly, and it still does in today's climate, so obsessed with celebrity and fandom.
Current Favorite: The Protomen - Act III: This City Made Us
Usually when we wait 15+ years for something, it comes out and disappoints. We waited 16 years for Act III, and somehow it delivered on every expectation it could have had. It's the Protomen's best work.
Favorite Band: Nightwish (represented here by Oceanborn)
It's either Nightwish or Blind Guardian, and my answer depends on my mood. Today, I love Nightwish's symphonies and orchestration, as well as having some of the most talented singers in metal.
Just don't listen to Human.:II: Nature.
First Album You Loved: Metallica - Master of Puppets
You can blame my dad for this one, but also: if any of you ever wonder "why did anyone EVER like Metallica," I encourage you to listen to this and their other early albums. For almost all of the 80s, they were untouchable.
Most Played: Carpenter Brut - Leather Terror
Back in 2022 when this album came out, I was working a stupid-early-morning shift at a Sam's Club, stocking damn near all of grocery by myself. For an entire year, this album was one of my few tethers to sanity.
Favorite Album: Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond
Blind Guardian's at their best when they take their listener on a journey, and I personally think this is the best expression of that feeling. You never want to skip a single song when listening to Somewhere Far Beyond.
A grid of music albums I selected. Going from row to row, left to right: Favorite Album: Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond Most Played: Carpenter Brut - Leather Terror First Album You Loved: Metallica - Master of Puppets Favorite Band: Nightwish Current Favorite: The Protomen - Act III: This City Made Us Personal Impact: Pink Floyd - The Wall Bad Day Cure: Witch Bolt - The Collector Overrated: Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast Underrated: a-ha - Scoundrel Days Not usually my thing, but...: Kendrick Lamar - DAMN. I hate it, but everyone likes it: Metallica - Death Magnetic I like it, but everyone hates it: Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera Best for Studying: Desert Sand Feels Warm at Night - 夜道 Best for Working Out: Carpenter Brut - Trilogy I want an excuse to share this one: Esselfortium - Future Human
I found one of these grid templates for music albums and those are something I happen to listen to a lot, so I put one together
Gonna put some additional notes on each in the replies because I love talking about music
