It’s okay to have a really hard time processing all the horrors of the world. Try to remind yourself that we are psychologically built to deal with problems we can see and affect. The distance creates helplessness because your brain thinks it’s right there. You aren’t bad for feeling overwhelmed.

It’s not one I’ve heard mentioned much, but if you think giving your thoughts, feelings, traumas, or other elements of yourself personification might make it easier to engage with them and find ways of healing, Little Secretary and I highly recommend trying it. 👍 (4/4)

I’m pretty open about my support of therapy, but I haven’t talked too much about the style that has worked for me. I use the Internal Family Systems method (IFS) and it’s been extremely helpful for me as someone who interacts with narratives and characters better than abstract thought. (3/4)

I’ve been having a slightly easier time talking about my oncoming loss lately, and connected with LS about that change. He showed me that he’s been slowly organizing all the joy and memories I have with her, and he’s so proud of it. I sobbed a lot in thanks and love for him and Tsuki. (2/4)

I’ve been a freelance novel editor for several years and I’ve been passionately reading and writing my whole life, but I’ve never been able to finish a manuscript of my own. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD, which has made that struggle make more sense,

There are people out there who WILL want to read my stories and even if there aren’t, I still deserve to create them, even if the only people who read them are my friends.

But I’ve felt that as a nobody from rural Canada, noone would see value in my stories or want to take a chance on me. But honestly, the success of #heatedrivalry has lit a fire in me that’s been extinguished for a long time.

The problem is that I’ve been fighting against my ADHD brain and crippling doubt my whole life, despite knowing I’m GOOD at these things. I’ve won awards! I’ve edited multiple highly rated books!

I might start a proper book club later if people would like that too. I’m also revisiting old stories in an attempt to turn them into proper manuscripts because it’s been my life long dream to publish a queer romance novel.
