Well, „the modern sandwich version“ of a Doner kebab was invented in West-Berlin in the 1970s.

The M2 is the 16GB version, the M4 is the 24GB version. I‘d advise the latter, since Teams and stuff do eat some memory.

IMV use cases for the Pro are really limited. Maybe more USB ports. I‘m using 15“ Air since 2023 (M2 model) and now a company-owned M4 and am very happy with them.
Use cases: Office stuff, Teams, Web, tiny bit of shell scripting, some Image work (for presentations), and every now and then a VM.

Unfortunately I don’t know any statistics on that. It is the default for image-based setup (as opposed to NFS-mounted root fs‘s where it would not make sense really), so nodes with disks or memory-fs based systems would use it.

HPE HPCM can use BitTorrent to distribute images to compute nodes. Unfortunately not a full description but some hints are in the admin manual on support.hpe.com when searching for HPCM BitTorrent (somehow I can’t paste anything in this bsky App on iOS?!)

HPE/Cray recently open the source code of the support library for Slingshot network (github.com/HewlettPacka...). Thanks to a Guix-HPC package, it's now possible to seamlessly deploy a Slingshot-capable MPI stack with performance on par with native MPI! #HPC

It's #SC24 week, so what better time for the Bristol Centre for Supercomputing (BriCS) to assemble the 5MW data centre for Isambard-AI. Of course we have typical UK winter weather to contend with, i.e. wind, rain, and today even snow. Fantastic support from HPE and Contour makes this possible #HPC

We could create a list of refugees? 🙃

Dass ich das Zertifikat gar nicht selbst prüfen will, sondern ein Stück Software das für mich macht. Das ist natürlich wieder eine Vertrauensfrage, aber darauf läuft es ja immer hinaus. Ich muss mir halt überlegen, wem ich trauen will. Das hängt sicher auch vom Kontext ab.

This seems to be an interesting approach to prove the provenance of pictures. Which I think is really needed. It is not Leitz-specific, they just made the first camera with it.
