“It can happen, though it shouldn’t it can happen but yes, asking your husband to take over and get everyone fed, bathed and into bed is something you deserve to do.”

Sue smiles warmly at Persephone “When he will be what will you do with your found peace and serenity? I know it can be daunting.”

“Have you spoken with her about your concerns? I know that she can be stubborn at times but so can you but even then you are also a great listener and maybe she will be too.”

Sue exhales softly in relief before letting out a soft yawn “I could fall asleep with so much ease right now Darling.”

“It’s okay Violet, there is nothing that you have to apologise for. Would you like a drink? I can get you a drink.” Sue has also reached out her hand and caresses Violet’s arm.

“Here, let me go get you some tea and a sandwich and then we can go outside on the balcony and get some air together.”

“I know you are. I know what you are like, like the back of my hand now. I just wish you wouldn’t be terrified without me.” Sue exhales when Reed places a hand on her stomach.

“I can be excited about our second child coming and also be supportive of my husband and his worries at the same time.”

“How can you be so sure? You don’t know my entire life story, only my current life story.” Sue sighs softly and then Sue looks at Violet before exhaling.

“You know that you aren’t the only one who has it tough, right? You shouldn’t act like everyone is your enemy because they are not Violet.”

“You say that but it sounds more than just nothing. You know that you aren’t really good for anybody unless you are taking care of yourself first.”

Sue smiles small at Persephone before exhaling softly “What I am trying to say is that you need to look after yourself first before anyone else.”

“You could have just told me that and I would have understood your concerns. Do you not think I would have understood your concerns?”

Sue lets out a sigh and she turns towards Reed and meets his gaze “I really thought you knew that you could tell me anything but maybe not maybe I’m the problem.”

“Nobody is ever too broken that they can’t be helped. All that is just harmful propaganda Violet. Are you going to spend the rest of your life listening to what other people tell you, hm?”

Sue is looking at Violet seriously “It’s time you stop listening to others and do what is right for you.”

“I think it is time that you set boundaries with your children, meaning that they cannot immediately hound you the moment you walk in the door, or maybe tell your husband to have them asleep before you are home.”

Sue can see how much this is taking a toll on Persephone and is becoming concerned.

Sue did feel Reed sitting down on the bed but Sue also keeps her eyes closed and keeps her body still as she doesn’t want to disturb Reed getting into bed even if they aren’t talking right now.

Sue still has her eyes open but is staring into the darkness of their bedroom and is breathing softly.

“I don’t think you know how therapy works Violet, respectfully a Therapist isn’t just going to throw you into a psych ward, believe me because I have said some things during my own.”

Sue smiles softly “Well if you change your mind about trying it then I’ll have her number ready for you to go.”

Sue laughs softly but also nods her head because she understands exactly how Persephone feels and actually agrees that Persephone deserves the break.

“It is remarkable. Children know that they can tell their father things too and yet they feel more confident in coming to mom and asking mom.”

Sue nods her head because she can see that Reed still isn’t quite ready to talk with her yet and Sue then walks back out the nursery and into the bedroom.

Sue climbs into the bed and exhales softly before closing her eyes and Sue is now just waiting for sleep to take over and send her to sleep.

“It sounds like you have extreme anxiety and childhood trauma, which from what you have described I can’t exactly blame you, it sounds horrific.”

Sue gives Violet a note “This therapist, talk to her. I have been to her and I can tell you that she is simply incredible and so patient and kind.”

Sue nods her head because she knows that Persephone is right and that giving Reed some space isn’t going to be the bane of his existence.

“Maybe we can take the children to the park for a while? I could use the fresh air and I think that the children will absolutely love it. What do you say?”

“W-what if he hates me forever?” Sue exhales but then Sue also nods her head knowing that she can trust Persephone’s judgement and then Sue gives Persephone a cuddle.

“You are right Persephone. I’ll give Reed some time to sulk and he’ll come and talk to me when he is ready to talk about this.”

“I know, I know I just…” Sue sighs softly and sits down beside Reed and exhales softly “Maybe I was just not ready to let Franklin grow up. I’m sorry.”

Sue exhales softly again “And I’m sorry for being so cranky and cruel to you. You didn’t deserve that and you can yell and be angry with me.”

“We aren’t made to be perfect, if we were everything would be boring.” Sue gently takes Violet’s hand and gives Violet’s hand a gentle squeeze before smiling.

“Thinking you are going to mess up is also a valid worry but now that you are a parent do you still have the same worry Violet?”

Sue sighs and pinches two fingers against the bridge of her nose realising just how cruel she was to Reed but also recognises that she didn’t have to be so angry. Sue knocks on their bedroom door before opening it slightly.

“Can I come in? I’d like to talk about this if you are ready to talk.”

“I know. I knew the risks before Reed and I even started trying for children but being someone’s mom was always my dream in life, way before I became a superhero.”

Sue laughs and then shakes her head “Listen to me. I undoubtedly sound extremely cheesy right now, it’s okay if you want to laugh.”

Sue does as Persephone instructs her to do and takes a few sips of water and then Sue smiles small at Persephone but also runs her finger around the rim of her glass.

“Am I even a good wife if I just sit back whilst my husband suffers in silence? I feel like I should go back and apologise.”

Sue lays Franklin in his crib after he finally falls asleep in her arms, then Sue puts on the mobile and Franklin’s nightlight and then walks right past Reed and closes the door behind her.

“Don’t you have something in the lab to do?” Sue says but her tone of voice is suddenly venomous and angry

Sue immediately puts a gentle hand over her bump but also smiles small at Violet and Sue then nods her head whilst adjusting to the news.

“I just hope that nobody tries to harm this little one too. Their brother already got harmed I don’t want the same fate being the same for this little one.”

Sue dries her tears, sniffs and then takes a drink of her water before nodding her head in Persephone’s direction because she knows that Persephone is right.

“Yes I think that is what could be wrong with him but maybe for now I should just give him some space and he’ll talk when he’s ready.”

FLAME ON BABY!

Sue now knows what is more important and who is more important to Reed and so she makes her own breakfast, takes Franklin and leaves the building for the rest of the day.

Sue would only come back when it is almost time for Franklin’s bedtime and bathes him before reading Franklin to sleep.

“I’d be very impressed if is smarter than Reed especially because that is not an easy task to be smarter than Reed. He knows everything or at the least almost everything.”

Sue exhales softly and smiles at Violet before giving Violet a gentle cuddle and Sue also gives Violet a gentle squeeze.

Persephone is right to think that is what Sue needs because as soon as Persephone and Sue are alone in the other room and Sue starts crying into Persephone’s arms.

“He hates me now, doesn’t he?” Sue says between sobs whilst she is gripping firmly onto Persephone whilst letting out all her sobs

Sue nods her head and then leaves the lab leaving Reed and Janet to any experiments that they are doing. Sue makes tea for herself and then goes upstairs to bed whilst watching a movie.

Sue fell asleep eventually though did cry herself to sleep because she thinks that Reed now hates her.

Sue seems to take a breath and then smiles at Violet somewhat relieved that that there is a chance that this little one could be powers free though Sue will love them regardless.

“Thank you for being honest with me Violet, most would have lied to protect my feelings but you are different.”
