Still giddy I had the opportunity to #copyedit “The Second Legend of Uh” by Aaron N. Hall, set to release this April. Check it out if you’re into cozy #fantasy and SpongeBob/Adventure Time-esque humor 💙📚🪐
I think I’ll be in the same boat! I’m excited to read more of their books.
"When I was six, I lay down for a nap on the couch and woke up inside the oven. Mother is God. I'm Sodom and Gomorrah. No ounce of good left in me. Run."
Only 16 pages into "Model Home" by @riverssolomon.bsky.social, and I've said "Damn, that's a banger line" out loud 5 or 6 times already. 💙📚🩸
“The Last Unicorn” by Peter S. Beagle accompanied by a cortado and marionberry scone. Portland rules.
I ❤️ Portland. And books. Obviously.

Screaming about this lovely shoutout from Aaron N. Hall, author of “The Legend of Uh.” 😍💙📚🪐

Sharing a few rebinds—all at different stages of completion—for your viewing pleasure. I’m loving the way “A Death in Door County” is shaping up! Only two versions of “The Hobbit” + “The Ground Beneath Her Feet” + “Pride and Prejudice” left to go 😬

Buehlman has flipped the Script(ure): God has abandoned us to fallen angels. How are a knight, a girl, and a priest to overcome the depravity of this medieval hellscape? 💙📚🩸
Is this what they mean when they say, “That girl has range”? 😂 (It isn’t.)
• “Siddhartha” by Hermann Hesse

This week in the world of Wyrd Wit:
1. Partnering with an author who’s submitting her horror novella into a competition tomorrow.
2. Finishing a beta read for a post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel.
3. Wrapping up a buddy read of “Between Two Fires” by @buehlmeister.bsky.social (crying)

Judge's badge for the 3rd Speculative Fiction Indie Novella Championship (aka SFINCS3). The badge features a black sphinx in front of an open book on a white, circular background.
Thrilled to serve as a judge for #SFINCS3! 💙📚🩸🪐
Indie authors don’t receive the recognition they deserve. #SFINCS encourages indie spec fic authors to share their stories with a community eager to hear them.
Thanks to the 100 authors who took the leap. I feel honored to read your creations.❤️
Don’t mind me. Just over here growing my Le Guin, @sgj.bsky.social, @agustinabazterrica.bsky.social, & @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social collections.

I kind of laugh at the idea of a "reliable narrator". Have you met people?!
Graphic of August reading wrap-up featuring “The Dispossessed” by Ursula K. Le Guin, “A Peculiar Peril” by Jeff VanderMeer, and “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” by Shirley Jackson.
August top reads 📚💙🩸🪐
1. Just a guy with a dream who can’t catch a break. Cue that Chumbawamba track.
2. Beware of secret doors to alternate Earths, talking marmots, and being pouched. You may like the pouch though.
3. I also love my sister, cats, and intimidating those who derail my routine.
Oh, we buddy reading 📚🩸
“Between Two Fires” by @buehlmeister.bsky.social
On average, 9/10 books I read are fiction. Call it escapism, if you must.
With nonfiction, I tend to be drawn to themes of interconnection and equality, which naturally lend themselves to social justice and the natural environment. Hoping for a glimpse of hope in “The Serviceberry” 📚💙💡🌱
“If you evade suffering you also evade the chance of joy. Pleasure you may get, or pleasures, but you will not be fulfilled. You will not know what it is to come home.”
From “The Dispossessed” by Ursula K. Le Guin. The perfect distillation of this novel at its core. 💙📚🪐
The Wheel made me do it. The Wheel knows what I crave. The Wheel is omniscient.

The latest PDX heatwave was followed by overcast skies and #Summerween cravings. You can find me tucked into a corner at the book pub with “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” by Shirley Jackson for company 💙📚 🩸📚
Went to school camp in 6th grade at Alliance Redwoods. It had everything—middle school drama, ropes courses, s’mores, bad impromptu skits around the campfire, and the chance to show off to your classmates by licking a slug.
