COVID-19 may leave placental damage, but virus disappears after maternal recovery A new Yale study published in JAMA Network Open finds that the virus that causes COVID-19 does not linger in placental tissue weeks to months after a pregnant woman recovers from infection—offering important reassurance for clinicians and patients alike.

SARS-CoV-2 is not detected in placental tissue weeks to months after maternal recovery, though some placentas show lingering structural and inflammatory changes from prior infection. doi.org/hbx5wq

This Earth Day, remember, AI pollutes our air, and destroys our drinkable water. The Earth isnt dying, capitalism is making it uninhabitable for human life. 🌎💚

CDC won’t publish report showing covid shots cut likelihood of hospital visits The report, which had cleared the agency’s scientific-review process, had been delayed. It now won’t be published at all, people familiar with the decision told The Post.

SCOOP: Two weeks ago, the head of the CDC delayed publication of a report showing covid vaccine cut likelihood of ER visits and hospitalizations by half. Now that report is no longer allowed to be published in CDC’s flagship scientific journal. My latest. 1/2

#INSAR2026 starts today! And in serious earnest tomorrow.

Another reminder that you might want to bring your own lanyard for your conference badge, lest you get stuck wearing branded merch from an openly anti-neurodiversity autism org. Just saying.

Watch this space for reporting. #neurodiversity

We've seen evidence that damage is cumulative, that your risk of acute & long-term adverse outcomes increases w each infection.

What we haven't seen definitively is if people could fully recover if they were not constantly being reinfected. Improvement has been seen, but full recovery, not so much.

The way my disabled heart braces for impact on reading something so hopeful.

To go out into the world on a whim, without a ten-point plan for vigilance against illness, Long COVID... to be my extrovert self again... to just be where the people are? 😭

#MicroSky: Mystery gut infections with no detectable pathogen are deadly- hard to treat. In severe cases, washed microbiota transplantation showed >60% response and 43% cure rates, hinting that restoring gut ecosystems may succeed where antibiotics fail. Zhang et al at doi.org/10.1111/1751...

Here's what the 6 month enrollment moratorium for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) means for people who are reliant on having access to it. (Moratorium announced 25 Feb by Oz and Vance.)

She found that their company revived her, carried her away from the constant presence of last night's terror, little by little, till she could begin to look back on it as something that had happened, not something that was happening, that must always be happening to her.

A Case for Transitional Justice If sunlight is the best disinfectant, a failure to apply it leaves a festering wound, with complications that continue to amass.

Definitively yes, imo.

"Afraid of appearing partisan, the Obama administration looked the other way when it came to prosecuting war criminals and torturers. The lack of confrontation is coming back to haunt us."

I think the first instinct of humans is love and community. I've seen it firsthand.

But humans are swayable.

Our fantastic minds can justify unimaginable evil.

Very few people think they're amoral or outright evil. But a vast majority can commit evil acts, while thinking they are truly virtuous.

A photo of Kieron I took as part of some reference for WicDiv years ago, in a park in London, by a bench on some grass. Over the horizon, I added the words IF TRUE so that they appear enormous across the London skyline. This was funny to me when I first made it, and it's still funny to me now, so you're seeing it again.
