@canadaland.com why don't you have a #starterpack for your great hosts and indeed for your amazing guests. Seems like an easy way to highlight the people who are making and covering the news.

Interesting interview by @noorazrieh.bsky.social about the high-speed rail in Canada. I am still in favour of it, but it certainly seems that there are problems with the process.

Laptop and smartphone displaying an adult education website with topics and resources.

As the U.S. Dept. of Education’s #LINCS platform grew, infrastructure complexity increased.

CivicActions streamlined operations by reducing servers from 6 to 4—and is now re-engineering the platform with Infrastructure as Code for automated, consistent deployments.

How Can Governments Pay Open Source Maintainers? When I worked for the UK Government I was once asked if we could find a way to pay for all the Open Source Software we were using. It is a surprisingly hard problem and I want to talk about some of the issues we faced. The UK Government publishes a lot of Open Source code - nearly everything developed in-house by the state is available under an OSI Approved licence. The UK is generally pretty…

CivicActions-Accessibility CivicActions Accessibility site is an open project for our team members and those who work for digital inclusion.

Accessibility Tip of the Week: Use headings & spacing to group related content. People with very low vision may zoom in 1400x into your page to read it. Thinking through how related content is grouped together will help with navigation. tinyurl.com/a11yCA #a11y

Acknowledging the process:
1️⃣ GovTech: Initially developed by Luxembourg by @accessibilite.public.lu for public monitoring.
2️⃣ AI: I used AI to help refactor and adapt the code for this new use case.
3️⃣ Open Source: None of this happens without a "share alike" mindset.

PDF Accessibility Crawler Submit a website URL to discover all PDF files it contains and assess their accessibility.

New tool alert! I’ve launched pdf-crawler a GitHub-based tool for scanning #PDF #accessibility.

It’s built on the shoulders of giants—specifically the Luxembourg government’s simplA11yPDFCrawler. I’ve repurposed their tech to make it easier to run audits via GitHub.

Public sector orals are high-stakes—and too often reinvented under pressure. Kudos to CivicActioner Arielle LaBrecque for creating our Orals Training Manual: a practical, repeatable framework for stronger presentations.

text says: Why Drupal?

Drupal isn’t just a CMS to us.
What the Drupal community makes possible:
📌 Long-term stewardship instead of short-term fixes

📌 A contrib-first culture
📌 A modular architecture
📌 An API-first foundation
📌 Ongoing evolution

Where are people looking. What will grab their attention. Do new folks in your spaces regularly talking about the CONTINUING.md file.

This needs to be tried and evaluated. I don't know.

There is a valid angle to that approach.

AGENTS.md AGENTS.md is a simple, open format for guiding coding agents. Think of it as a README for agents.

Also frankly useful for an AGENTS.md file to reference to ensure there is a higher level of accessibility

But think of it like an Accessibility Statement for coders. Both to state a commitment to Accessibility but also highlight what Accessibility work is done on tge project.

No worries. Not too harsh. So contributors.md is about people and how they can join. People with disabilities should be mentioned but often aren't. People with lived experience of disability are valuable for open source projects.
