Was on a patio today and there were two birthday parties: One for a dog and one for a cat.
Yup…I’m definitely in Fort Collins! 😻🐶

This is a huge loss to our field/community and I hope it comes back soon. I know many REU alumni who are now doing amazing things in our field, and this program was fundamental in shaping their success and providing early-career exposure to research.
The colder, drier, and more stable air undercutting convection **
NW-oriented convective rolls located behind the front within the cooler and drier air, serving to undercut convection and forcing it to grow upscale:

A whopping 0.4” of snow and 0.02” of liquid at the Cheyenne office, translating to a 20:1 snow-liquid ratio… 🫠
Was an eventful commute from FoCo to Cheyenne this morning. Visibility decreased to < 1 mile rapidly at the state line.
Some turbulent, but pretty skies shortly before this morning’s snow squalls!
Side-by-side perspective of Typhoon Sinlaku's satellite appearance and its estimated intensity as it strengthened from a tropical storm to a category 5-equivalent hurricane.

Coming off mids is far more difficult than going on mids 🙃🙃 #LessonLearned
NWS Applied Meteorology 2026 in Kansas City. It was a long process. But I learned and a lot. All of these people are awesome. It’s truly rewarding knowing that we all have the same goal and want to serve the same mission. Also, all of the facilitators were amazing throughout this.
A pretty, cool-season undular bore pushing across Western Nebraska this morning!
Also, caffeine != sleep.
Night 1/5 of mids upcoming and it’s been a ride! Looking forward to just chilling with the weather overnight. I will say, it was weird staying up until 4 am and sleep in until 1 PM…
What an April Fools’ Day game. The best team in the NHL (Avs) beat by the worst team in the NHL (Canucks). Also…14 goals?! (8-6)
Catching some rays
This is a fantastic thread. Read it. Kyle is awesome.
2.5 weeks complete in Kansas City for NWS Academy/Foundations and now I’m back at home in Colorado. WOW! Learned so much, met some amazing people, got taught new skills, and learned a lot about my new role. Also ate too much BBQ (not complaning).

Likewise Rick! Thank you so much for coming out and for helping facilitate. I have learned a lot. Also great to put faces to names!
No. Just no. It’s March!
Preliminary ranking thus far: Q39 > Joe’s > Char Bar. Will have to add another couple to my sample size throughout the next 6 days that I’m here…
Have eaten my fair share of BBQ these past 10 days in Kansas City. The options are endless and none have disappointed!
It was solid! Never thought I’d praise a chain, but it was actually good. Also, well-priced.
More than passable! I found it tasty!
First time experiencing this place in my 32.5 years of living. It did not disappoint.
Earlier just west of St. Louis, but can see the forced convection along the gust front in the time lapse!
