-Two of my wife’s friends offering to get food and come hang out with her while I’m at work.
-Another neighbor offering to babysit when we need it.
Life is still rough right now but feels like less of a mountain to get over.

About halfway through my triple Old Fashioned last night, I realized how life is being made a bit easier right now by the people around us being willing to help:
-Our therapist neighbor giving us a list of grief counselors.
-My Fire Officer instructor getting me up to speed so I don’t have to drop
Civilian Conservation Corps but for knocking off billionaires and J6ers.
Really curious to see who is doing the political calculations about the longevity and effectiveness of Trump vs. Pope Leo.
SR also goes off about RADM Jamie Sands, who was fired last year for no discernible reason. Sands was SR’s CO in the teams and was talking shit about him and SR has had Hegseth as a guest. Shit feels like it’s starting to add up to DOD firing grudges of podcast hosts.
Now, there is some absurdity to some of the things that the battalion was asking the platoon to do but it’s pretty normal bullshit.
They make reference to the interview being recorded a few weeks ago. What’s to say that SR or a member of his team called up Hegseth and dropped the dirt on Hodne?
May have stumbled onto a reason why Gen. Hodne was fired after watching some of the Shawn Ryan Show. About 6 hours into the interview with Pete Blaber, he talks about the Tillman incident. He explains that Hodne was the 2/75 S3 and had been issuing order’s to Tillman’s platoon and PL.
Multiple people, independent of each other, came up to us afterwards and said that the lights in the church flickered the instant she told that story.
Make of that what you will.
My wife spoke during her dad’s funeral and made it a point to say that she envisioned my mom (who died when I was 14) running up to greet him in the afterlife, introducing herself, and then immediately asking about the granddaughters.
The next part is a little crazy.
My wife asked my mother-in-law to not request Ave Maria be played during my father-in-law’s funeral today (even though it’s a Presbyterian service) because she knew I would absolutely lose it if I heard it.
Has it been discussed that the Avignon Papacy was part of the reason that the French monarchy was able to destroy the Knights Templar, a group that Hegseth seems to draw inspiration from with his tattoos?
Ya know, I’ve had my differences with the church in the past and I am a lapsed Catholic, but I’m pretty firmly with Leo on this. Start denying the sacrament, baby.
I genuinely think his first book is one of the best ones on leadership out there but man, it’s a rocky road to get to the Takur Ghar stuff.
Pulled up the Pete Blaber interview on SRS and hooooo boy. The first hour is some wildly out there shit. Even SR looks at him like WTF a few times.
Every woman without an obvious trauma or repeat transport gets, at minimum, a 4 lead in my ambulance.
I mean, we can just dust off the same plan we used to grab Maduro.
None of you have said Columbus, Lawton, or Fayetteville and I’m disappointed in you.
Today I learned one of my father-in-law’s students was the founder of Pinterest.
Do PJs get a little gold combat star for a recovery like this or not?
It’s really hard to summarize my father-in-law’s life into a few paragraphs but we did the best we could. Reading the various posts from past students and athletes really drive home how special he was.

I’m buzzed on birthday margaritas. Did we find the second F15 crew member?
The fuck it is. We’re just getting started.
This was 2011 and I think the course was titled “Russia and the Russians”. It was pretty self guided and honestly, really fascinating. Basically, a Russian history course dating all the way back to Kievan Rus. All my interactions were via email and I got an A 🤷
It was something, that’s for sure.
Is now a bad time to mention that he was an instructor for my online grad program through Henley-Putnam and now I realize the school may not have been exactly on the up and up?
Spite. Don’t let the bastards get you down.
Last week really fucking sucked.
I remember my profound thought from yesterday:
Annual physicals. Stay on them and start demanding EKGs with every visit. My father-in-law’s autopsy revealed an enlarged heart and several blocked arteries, all things that could have been addressed sooner.
I had a profound thought to share with the universe this morning but I slept like shit so the only thing I can offer is that chopped Calabrian chili peppers are a really amazing addition to eggs.
