First lab photo :)

By any means necessary.
Cooper Lab had our first lab meeting this morning. Things are moving along here. :)
Thermo really needs to work on their email titles. Not sure I'm clicking this one.
Ooo nice. I just received a quote for one. Are you happy thus far?
What model system is this?
#TeamMassSpec Any willing their share their opinion on the OpenTrons system for proteomics. I have heard mixed reviews for early users, but wondering about those who have worked out bugs and are using routinely.
Just sent offer letters to two MSc students... I feel like a grown up now.
I've been very impressed with the Ceres Nano-Trap enrichment beads so far. www.ceresnano.com/nanotrap-peak . I just quantified over 2200 proteins from Dog Plasma. Including reliably seeing KITLG (Stem Cell Factor) which is in the pg/ml range I think. Let's see O-link do that in in dog ...Pfft.
If our research doesn't interest you, I know our view from the graduate student desks will.
My DMs are always open if you run into other issues. I am sure Thermo wouldn't appreciate me spilling the beans on my year of hell. Our rule of thumb is auto startup (without diagnostics) when you calibrating the mass spec. Sonicate the needle seat once or twice a month goes a long way.
This is from the torque wrench. I promise you finger tight is good enough. only use the torque at valves.
You`re giving me PTSD from our first year with the Neo Vanquish. If you run auto-startup script with diagnostics in direct inject mode it has more verbose.
Just recieved 3 quotes from 3 different mass spec vendors.... let the games begin.
Looking for students who are interested in the intersection of molecular biology and mass spectometry. Bioinformatic students, please consider applying, we are happy provide hands-on cell biology training. Biology or Biochemistry students, this is your chance to gain hands-on multi-omics experience.
Realizing that isn't LabX. What site is that?
Do you find the equipment is relatively functional off LabX?
Yay! After a month of waiting, my article finally has two reviewers who have agreed. Now time to wait another 1-2 months for review. 😅
🚀 Two MSc opportunities at CR-CHUM!
Join our lab to study:
🔬 Early-stage ovarian cancer biomarkers
🧬 EV-mediated communication in the tumour microenvironment
Offered through UdeM (Biologie moléculaire / Biochimie).
Start Jan/May.

I have 2 MSc positions in my lab. Please inquire for more information.
No way. It's Toronto. It has its own greenhouse system from the poorly designed infrastructure, airport, and roads that can't meet vehicular demands. It melts snow on impact and generates 6 months of dirty sidewalk mush.
Do it. This is pure art.
Maybe if the O stood for oscillations or orbitals it would fit in the marketing campaign. "Peptide ping pong" with Forrest Gump as the spokesperson.
I am interviewing a research associate tomorrow and also teach a class. Is wearing a Halloween costume a no-no?
Not sure if I get more email from predatory journals or my kids school. I almost need a seperate email just to keep up with the events and pizza days.
Interesting approach. I will keep that in mind.
Right now, I have the issue of too many good candidates for one position. I wish I could hire them all. Any advice how to narrow it down at this point? Cost of salary vs time to train is what stands out.
I am still looking for a research coordinator or associate. Please contact me if interested.
