too often we forget that the public-facing consumer product isn’t the end game for tech companies.
like what’s the Meta/Waymo/Nest pitch to police, DoD?

What’s the time cost of disabling/getting CoPilot out of the way across all products and devices on a (seems like) daily basis?
A distinguishing feature of SNAP has been the ease of participation.
That some states are eager to scrap that for some possible short-term health gains…
Years from now, there will be required research ethics trainings that cite this case as an example and warning.
The avoidable suffering and clear power imbalances make it even sadder.
I sense that somewhere, some academic is writing a think-piece, e.g., “This is ACTUALLY the Best Time in History to Be Alive”.
Could we not? Thx

(2/2) Interesting to see our piece alongside the hearings.
I am so skeptical of promises to "focus on food" absent a regulatory agenda (@drjessicaknurick.bsky.social) makes this point often).
UPFs warrant action. But trying change industry via SNAP - especially now - risks more than it's worth.
Excited to see coverage of our @jama.com viewpoint in the latest @foodfixco.bsky.social newsletter!

Georgetown CCF now has a new state-by-state #Medicaid enrollment tracker based on monthly state administrative data, which can help identify enrollment trends moving forward including as states implement H.R. 1's draconian cuts. This blog explains the new tracker: ccf.georgetown.edu/2026/02/26/n...
Out today in @jama.com : @drlauraschmidt.bsky.social and I weigh the merits of nutritional SNAP restrictions.
While we didn't agree on restriction overall, we were united in our concern about broader changes to SNAP that will undermine the program.

Re-sharing as reminder that “fraud” is all some people ever hear about safety net programs.
It’s not an accurate portrayal, but that’s the media ecosystem we’re working with.
Dude you just gutted rural health funding
Great postdoc opportunity in Community Health at Tufts! My wonderful colleague Beth Marfeo is looking to recruit someone working at the intersection of public health policy, politics, and aging.

As with so many of these AI classroom problems, it’s not an entirely new thing (giving login info to someone else to cheat)…
BUT! Faster, marketed, delivered with a click (fewer moments to feel the ick, so to speak). Also $$$
Definitely… I think beyond the academic integrity bit there’s a lawsuit waiting to happen here.
This must violate Canvas terms of service, no??
Thank you for preparing the resource! There’s not enough policy/public health awareness about these SNAP changes.

Think of the time you’ll save by using ChatGPT to Worlde.
Reminds me of a food research meeting in grad school… ice-breaker was your “guilty pleasure” food. Lots of obvious ice cream, Diet Coke, etc.
Got to Paul Rozin - psychologist who coined term “omnivore’s dilemma” - he helpfully rejected the premise.
Guilt doesn’t need to mix with food. 🥗
I’ll definitely be using this in “Beyond the Food Desert” when I’m back from leave!

For as “busy” as these people look publicly, then seem terribly bored.
