Is it just CO2? we suggest Land use is a significant driver of increasing floods & droughts. These changes lead to rapid water loss from runoff, causing both floods and water scarcity.

Terrace. with cowpeas, maize residues and protected terrace risers with trees and grass
Steep terraces hillsides
Recently I visited the Machakos area of Kenya and saw steep terraced hillsides, with the terraces protected by grasses and trees; maize being intercropped with leguminous perennials, residues being returned to the soil surface. And all this happening at scale, just so impressive!
Experimental treatments: VF tyre (left), rotary harrow (middle) and surface profiling roller (right).

Tramlines in fields can cause a lot of runoff, carrying soil and pollutants to water. 🚜🌧️ Our paper, dedicated to the late Martyn Silgram, found using very flexible tyres and a rotary harrow to break up compaction can reduce this problem 🌱💧 #farming #environment #soilhealth shorturl.at/lEPB8
There is an open discussion in SOIL on an article about plant physiology and global soil carbon research. If you click on this link you can add your views - egusphere.copernicus.org/preprints/20...
Two assigned reviews are already posted, but the more comments the better the discussion.
