Over half a petabyte, 576tb of storage after parody. 624tb total raw, just the main array. Which I’ve maxed out can no longer add disks. All in a single 4U chassis.
The reporting on OpenAI and Sam Altman I've been working on for the past year and a half, for @newyorker.com, with Andrew Marantz: www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
The cat wrote a script and the litter robot now orders treats for him every day.
You could call him….
a script kitty.
I think it's bad for the President to threaten to annihilate an entire culture and i do not think you are being alarmist if you take his threats seriously and literally.
Ordered a new pair of Litter Robots to replace the aging V3 robot.
Went with the v4 because then newer one has an “AI” powered camera and requires a $120 a year Whiskers+ subscription.
No. I don’t want a fancy internet connected litter box taking pictures of the inside of my house.
Six, 4k Remux streams transcoded to 480p, using Plex and Jellyfin. The Intel Arc 310 does work for budget card.
It's really impressive, would be more impressive if could get it MSRP, I paid $60 over. :-/
Insanely fast, it basically transcodes an entire episode in a few minutes. P1000 would stay ahead but not like this, it also helps I've got a 48gb ram drive just for transcoding.
Summoned what little energy I have to install a new GPU in the Plex server.
Intel Arc A310 (4gb), wanted the 380 but the GPU market is just… awful.
I primarily wanted this for AV1. Since disks are probability expensive. Going to test AV1 & AV1 transcoding.
Though I NetBoot more than I boot from disc.
I’ve got a the last Netdimm firmware update disc, can take any Netdimm to 3.17 so you can update to 4.01.
I think I found the lowest FW Netdimm ever.
Most GDs have error 25. Which is indicative for a burnt IC. A custom IC bespoke to the Arcade GDRom system. You can easily connect the power cable in reverse blowing it up. I need to find a suitable Noctua fan so that same chip won’t over heat.
I’ve been buying them one or two at a time. Mostly snagging them from Sendico. Even with tariffs the yen/usd the deals are pretty good still.
I ended up finding a dude selling a working GDRom for under $100. He had two, ordered the first one was like yeah I’ll take the other.
Not one but two working GDROM’s, and a stack of some Naomi GD fire.
Crazy #FinalFantasyVII turns 29. I still have my copy, even the receipt. Still one of the best FFs of all time.
Maybe I should play it on my Debug PlayStation system that came from Square office. (Though the US version has a few more months before it’s officially 29).
Lost Odyssey is $8.24 on XBL buff.ly/3CsyJ5j
Absolutely, Wii and the Switches are cash money printers.
I mean they did with the Cube and the N64 was a mixed bag depending on region.
Post GameCube they kinda split off and did their own thing. Which has worked out for them so far. Well the WiiU was a rough bump, but the games were good.
I want to go to those events but with health issues just isn't happening. Same with my indefinitely postponed Japan trip.
I used the Honeywell PTM 7950 thermal pad and did some undervolting and pbo tuning.
It’s getting 18,5xx in Cinebench R32 in a Fractal Terra and with a Noctua NH-L12S.
Cruses at 4.8GHz on all cores in extended duration test.
I bought this portable Viewsonic monitor for my microscope for soldering work.
But I use it more to work on PCs than anything.
It also means I need to get back into modding and repair work.
Merry Christmas but 75° and running my AC on Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas at all. Halloween didn’t feel like it either since it was 90°.
Global warming sucks and I want consistently cold October - December.
How and what the hell am I suppose to do till the next season of #Pluribus comes out?
Just live life and wait? The way things are going who knows if 2027 will even be a thing.
Season 1 review: 11/10, masterful cinematography, sound design, writing and acting.
Working on the last SFF PC refresh for realistically a long long time. I had a feeling hardware availability would tank but didn’t respect it to be this bad.
My squad of X3D AM5s should get me to 2029/2030. Kidding but not. :-/
Glad I always went 64gb minimum in ram.
I’m going to buy an island and retire early.
This isn’t even all of the loose DDR4 ECC I’ve got laying around.
10 min of Cinebench R23 has temps 78-82.9°C, on default fan curve with DOCP-1 enabled.
I’ve got a bunch of extra fans crammed in there from when I was trying to keep a 10850k cool on a Noctua NH-L12Sx77 (impossible).
I left them in since they were already there.
Super happy with this setup.
First SFF (re)build is finished.
AIO, Arc B580 (will fit 4070super) with a Asus Strix B650E-I running a 7800X3D. Temps are great considering the slim radiator/fans and GPU literally mm’s apart.
All crammed into a Fractal Ridge.
Talking about SFF: “Oh yeah SFF is the way to go, you can have all the performance and minimal drawbacks. Only my main gaming rig is full size, I love mini itx. “
Working on SFF builds: “Oh god I hate this cable management is such a pain why is it like this I want the pain to stop.”
PC/Server pricing is just unbelievable, I paid $350 for this memory kit 11 days ago (11/07/2025). Now it's almost $800 and prices are continuing to going up.
I bought some ECC DDR4 for the home lab Feb/March 2025, $380 for 512gb. Now just 128gb ECC DDR4 is $370 dollars.
9950X3D - Asus 5080 Astra
9800X3D - Nvidia 4070 Super
7800X3D - Intel Arc B850.
Only the 9950/5080 is a full size ATX build the other two are mini itx. Even managed to fit water coolers in the mini itx cases.
