I picked up the complete ScummVM collection over on the Internet Archive for preservation sake, and I'm so glad I did

Looking through this collection there's so many games that have all but vanished from being obtainable in any other way
Grateful this exists

Gaming history shouldn't be abandoned

I read it this year and can't recommend it enough. It shines a very insightful light on how game dev is *way* broader and more varied than we're led to think

It definitely hit home on so many of my own motivations

image demonstrating rules about axes, handedness, and direction of rotation in 3D space, where you can use your thumb as the axis, and the curl of your fingers as the positive rotation direction

handedness can be a little hard to wrap your head around - it's a very elusive concept as it's mostly perceptual/visual rather than being a property of the numbers/math itself

notably though, you can use it to figure out positive rotation directions, given an arbitrary axis!

Beware of AI generated fake game developers

Bot accounts with fake AI-generated games are pretending to be genuine #gamedev / #indiedev accounts. Possibly for scam or spam purposes. I made a list to block them all. Share!

This game influenced my character design, my storytelling, my music.

Even the name "UNDER TALE" sounds very similar to "CAVE STORY"...
