Now I wonder if the job of social secretary actually exists in today's world, and how it might work to have one. Also, does it exist in your Alpennia?

I have no idea about the slop publishing side of things, but I feel bad for any real people who try self publishing, fail at marketing, and then have to pay that additional more than 12% of their book sales earnings do D2D as a punishment for not having sold enough of their books in a year.
I am delighted to see that the countdown to @saraluckelman.bsky.social talk is live at www.umu.se/live/
I have no idea where that park might be located, nor which person named Emma you think the park is more fun than.
(Said whilst deliberately ignoring the part where there is a chance that these names could also attach to more directly comparable entities than parks and people).
Oh, they have checks there? I haven't had a checking account or checks since leaving the states in 2003...
Next Wednesday, 15 April, at 13:15 - 15:00
@saraluckelman.bsky.social
will be speaking at Umeå University, Sweden, on the topic of Making the Erudite Accessible. Please join us live at www.umu.se/live/
I enjoy both, and also enjoy writing in mirror script with my non dominant hand.
Woo Hoo! The funding application I sent in this winter has been approved! My first funding application since starting at Umeå University, which puts me in the delightful position of a 100% success rate for applications in my new field.
I totally understand why the "eligible countries" list for the print version is a single country, but I don't understand why the contest for the free digital version is limited to only the US and Canada. Ebooks work globally...
While our local grocery store does carry a (limited selection) of yarn, very, very few other stores in the area do. Trying to do a yarn crawl with that many stops would require many, many hours in a car. So take an extra moment to appreciate that you have this possibility.
...as in, I can be typing a name on the computer, realize I need a special character that I don't know how to get on the computer, open my phone, type the character there, and by the time the phone is in my pocket, the file is synced and I see it on the computer screen.
These days, I do all my writing in Obsidian, because I like that it is open source, the ability to link to different notes, possibility to customize everything, and the ability to keep it synced with my phone.
"This post is fixed-term for 7 years or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier", so it could be 7 months, if the post holder suddenly decides to come back?
I am with you on hesitant about learning complicated games, and with you on playing Settlers of Catan, but for truly over and over and over again, for me it is Qwrikle, which is even faster to learn, and I never get tired of it.
That was my thought, too! For drawing practice makes sense, but even if I were going to suddenly start trying to develop skills in drawing, I don't think it would have occurred to me to practice on celebrities.
which he? James II, Charles I, or this year's example?
And I was reminded, yet again, of how often I have heard Europeans say that US politics is so far to the right that the people who are considered left in the US would be considered just right of center in Europe.
and then saw a comment on the post saying that most of the statements read like the Democratic party platform, and wondering where the Cascade party differs from the Democrat party.
and thought "gee, yet another right-wing, oligarchical party"
I clicked through to their page, and saw quotes like this one in the first section "We understand, appreciate and promote wealth creation and success. We recognize the roles of markets and trade in our prosperity"

Which kinda underlies the point...
This tells me that your room is reasonably cold. Not having studied the physics of chocolate and that particular sugar candy composition, I can't say how cold, but somewhere out there, there is someone who could tell you the temperature below which your room must have been at that moment.
I know just how uncomfortable such a wait can be. I hope that all that can go well does.
I can't help you with that word, but hopefully your experience will get doctors prescribing emetgency packets of baked beans and other Coeliac-safe backup meals for travellers.
Exercise is important! Without movement, our ability to do other things suffers...
While you could have used a hexagonal graph paper for it, which would have made the circle part easier to to grid, then you would have complained about getting those diagonals right...
I just listened to an "Inspirational Lecture" from last winter that lives up to that title. swedigarch.se/index.php/20... Knowing that the speaker subsequently moved to Sweden as a research refugee from a country that no longer allows climate research makes it even more interesting.
What a cute house in the background!
