I get that people complain about quick hooks but the starting pitching has been absurdly healthy for a long time now so I wouldn’t deviate from the strategy at this point, particularly given the lack of depth there.
Easy choice for today’s wardrobe for Masters Sunday. RIP Scrap Iron. Say hello to Pops and the Cobra up there for us.
For what it’s worth, Coach Fisher told me last night that the team is “markedly better” than they were last year.
Did he get to see the actual Tim Horton play hockey? Inquiring minds want to know.
I mean, I’m a basketball coach who very clearly loves the sport and I watched the Pirates over the National Championship game. I probably watched not more than five games this season that weren’t Pitt or Miami (OH).
Time will tell - I think it’s a big outlier myself in a sport where coaching makes the biggest difference but that school has massive resources. SEC/BIG all have a huge advantage.
I honestly can’t fathom why anybody follows college football or basketball in its current landscape other than out of sheer habit. I have to think I’m a pretty big sports fan in the grand scheme of things and I don’t even pay close attention anymore.
They’ve depleted the starting pitching depth with the off-season deals, so he’s probably the best option. They absolutely need to be extremely healthy again this season I think.
I’m honestly bewildered at how ridiculous the MLB ball-strike challenge system is. We have the technology to get the calls correctly at all times, but we’ll only use it when people get upset.
I'm now a plus six. This is fun!
I put the kids to bed and have watched a total of four minutes of this game. I’m a plus three. You’re welcome.
I’d be pretty upset at the third base coach if I were a Mets fan. You have second and third with nobody out and 3-4-5 at the plate against Urquidy if you don’t send the runner home there. Not the percentage play at all.
I could see the bullpen being a recurring issue. A lot of unreliable guys from a command standpoint and some big time regression candidates.
And, as always, a giant F you to Scott Barnes, the main villain in the entire Pitt basketball story.
The good news is that I actually get to watch this year's tournament with a rooting interest with Miami and TCU involved.
At least I don't have to waste time next year on the basketball program either I guess.
I discussed this with @adamgretz.bsky.social but I still think Laila Edwards is the most gifted female hockey player I've ever seen. Everything she does looks so easy it reminds me of watching Mario when he was first in Pittsburgh.
Jeremy Swayman is doing his best “Tristan Jarry in the playoffs” impression. Woof.
He runs great offense and has a terrific mind for that, but they’ve consistently been awful on the glass and much like Capel, I don’t think he can get the level of guys he needs to win playing that style.
Appreciate it dude! Hopefully just some bad luck with the body, and not a sign that I'm in rapid physical decline.
Thanks bud. Nothing serious I don't think, it just seems like my body might be aging faster than I'd like and requiring some clean up procedures.
Granted I'm having some health issues right now and having to combine work with Mr. Mom duties, but all you need to know about Pitt basketball is that I was offered courtside seats tonight and have degrees from both of these universities, and I didn't even consider going to this game.
I can’t wait to not feel obligated to have to watch Jeff Capel teams play basketball. I can’t deal with any basketball where defensive rebounding and shot selection aren’t at all valued.
Highlight of Christmas so far? The return of my Bucco Brick!
You are welcome I love this topic. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas.
The last one is the Ramones
Fairytale of New York - The Pogues. It Doesn’t Often Snow at Christmas- The Pet Shop Boys. Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight).
I’m still in disbelief that the officials determined that play would have been a touchdown if not for the OPI. That would have been a historically bad ruling, even by NFL standards.
