My drawing has been black and white of late, thought I'd get a bit of colour practice on this panel.

Over on my blog I think about using Ai to help me colour. Do I regret it?

Pencil and inking video for that particular scene.

I am now a brush pen convert. The range of mark making and line variation make drawing fun again.

The thicker lines means less noodling from me.

Affinity 3.0 is the best alternative to PhotoShop at the moment.

There are differences that are annoying after using Ps and a bit of research is needed. There's plenty of YouTube videos to help out though.

I use Affinity 2.0 because I bought it and want to get my full 10 years out of it!

I don't usually notice details like this but the trailer had edited frames compared to the film.

I can understand why.

I like black and white but sometimes I really need to add colour.

It breaks the monotone monotony.

I added foreground figures. There was too much dare I say... uninteresting crosshatching filling the panel

Drawing outside on the way home from Asda somewhere Durkar Low Lane. 6°c and overcast. Gave up after 25 minutes. Hands and back seized up. Shuffled off home for black Redbush tea and a Snickers bar.

The photo shows a brush pen and watercolour drawing in an A5 sketchbook. The remains of Sandal Castle, West Yorkshire are in the background. Text reads ' visited Sandal Castle to meet a friend and collect my Christmas dinner from the castle Cafe. A stranger in the car park shouted that I 'needed to wear gloves in weather like this!'

Cartoon by John Welding from 2017 based on the film Frankenstein (1931) showing the then Prime Minister May standing over the living corpse of Great Britain declaring, "It's alive... and strong... and stable!" mocking the Tory slogan of the day.

Chancellor Reeves November pre budget speech.

Why does it all sound so familiar?

Did a little impromptu paper and ink performance for someone's special day this morning.

(I've replaced the original birthday wishes with some inane babbling from the internet!)

Black and white brush pen drawing and notes with a grey scale textured overlay (from the artist's own photo library).

He watched the film 'Protein' the other night and quite enjoyed it. Enough to draw characters from memory at least.

Watched 'Protein' the other night and really enjoyed it (my only real complaint is the lead character is too stoic!).

The 'Ken Loach' meets vigilante serial killer angle worked for me as did the similarity to 1999's (eat to live) Ravenous.

I think 'white out' and 'patching' is still an acceptable part of the process!
