Thumbnail sketch of a bridge over a river, framing the Minneapolis city line, with the graffiti “wack world” displayed on its center arc.
A thumbnail sketch of a person by a tree overlooking the river as a murder of crows settle in the trees on the opposite bank.
A thumbnail sketch of a tree trunk with its broken branches scattered around it. Framed by trees in the foreground with the crows flying over the river in the background.
All thumbnail sketches together with the title Minneapolis Murder Migration. The text next to it reads: The winter can be beautiful. The landscape is bare with space that can only be filled with reflective thought. This place is keeping me sane as I watch the rat race under the wack world bridge. Like a portal or an animal in a zoo, I’m on the outside looking in. This is what is real. The river. The birds. The trees.
It’s been unseasonably warm and I’ve been taking any chance I can to walk in my favorite park and do quick thumbnail sketches and write. The crows were migrating and the sound was striking. This is the part of my routine that I most look forward to.
