We must not look away. Keep vigilant. Keep resisting oppression. ππ«π
"The fact that Israel has continued to kill Palestinians, while much of the world looks away, highlights the difficulty now facing the BDS movement and whether it can maintain the energy it has gained."

In #Lebanon, more than 35,000 children attend UNRWA's 61 schools every year.
"Children, all over the world, have the right to learn in a safe space that has protection and quality education," says Souad Kadri, UNRWA School Principal in Lebanon.

This morning, Israeli forces stormed a United Nations site: the UNRWA Headquarters in occupied #EastJerusalem.
βInternational law has come under increasing attack for too long and is risking irrelevancy in the absence of response by Member States,β says UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini
I did not enjoy listening to this clip. Esp as a parent parts of it feel almost unbearable to hear. Thatβs why Iβm encouraging you to watch and listen to this
My six-year-old asked me today if Santa is allowed into Gaza to bring presents to all the kids there.
...Sometimes I think how much kinder our world would be if our children were running it.
May God bless all the children everywhere. ποΈπ
Different KC Davis, but I'm going to take this as a book recommendation from the heavens. ππ
As social studies teachers, we are TRULY on the front lines.

"While reporting on war is essential to expose its human costs and security, environmental coverage is equally important.
Climate change will not pause for a ceasefire, and neglecting it risks overlooking a crisis that affects everyone."

Hopefully no rascally burglars pestered you while she was away. π€£
Will keep you in my prayers. How is Mrs. F?
Glad you're getting better!
Oooooh... I'm marking "The Ossiphone" to share with my future history students. π€
You're here because you're cool. π I am super great and getting better (on one hand... the other hand sees and feels too much, lol). ππ How are you?
Hi Paul! Happy to see you here! ππ
Senator Jeff Merkely leads the First-ever resolution in the U.S. Senate to formally recognize a Palestinian state
This is long overdue and a critical step forward.

"What we should name in the face of abusive power is not our fellow citizens and residents but the acts of injustice that harm others and β for those of us who remain silent β ourselves."
I'll take this vision to dreamland. Thank you, David! π€
"To describe activism and peaceful protests against the genocidal violence in Gaza as βpro-Palestinianβ is disparaging. Opposing the strategic starvation of a trapped population is hardly pro-Palestinian. It is pro-humanity."
A reminder that the @nytimes.com told New Yorkers to not rank Mamdani at all, & instead endorsed former hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson.
Tilson sits at a whopping .8%.
Corporate media trust is dead. They killed themselves by failing to fulfill their promise of holding the powerful accountable.
How much stronger and unifying would the following statement be if the 36 deputies had replaced "Jewish values" with "human values"?
βThe inclination to avert our eyes is strong, as what is happening is unbearable, but our Jewish values compel us to stand up and to speak out,β they wrote.
I first created online content to combat post 9/11 Islamophobia.
Now as we see Gaza genocide, devastation of women in Afghanistan, war consuming Sudan, & war drums to invade IranβI'm launching "Islam Today" to combat disinfo & hate
Check it out. (No Paywall)

We have a tough road ahead. It's never been more important to guide students to develop critical thinking skills, and yet the system being built around us is designed to crush those abilities. <sigh>
While unsurprising, the study gives us levels of measurement - Using LLMs to write essays decreases the learning value in all ways. Much as if you used machines to life the weights at a gym, it defeats much of the training and strengthening purpose, leading to weaker learning and development.
How can we teach caring about the stranger in new creative ways?
Precisely! I'm in my last year as a Secondary Education (History) student and I wonder what some of my peers are going to say when they're standing in front of their future students... "Um, hold onto that question while I check AI."
I see posts of professors fed up with students using AI.
Imagine being a student who watches peers constantly use AI in an English program.
Iβve no idea if my 3.96 GPA is because Iβve produced exceptional work or if Iβm actually horrible but theyβre like, βHUMAN WORK: A!β ππ

Twenty years ago, the US warned prematurely of the 'birth pangs' of a new Middle East. Now they have arrived in full force - and they will not end in Iran.

Btw, if you can see the grotesque injustice that is the National Guard violently occupying LA for even 1 day against the will of Los Angelenos, then you can certainly see the grotesque injustice that is the Israeli military violently occupying Palestine for 75 years against the will of Palestinians.
