Y’all remember Fred from Big Hero 6?
Big Hero Six
mary was the soundtrack to my adolescence. she dropped back to back to back classics. but "what's the 411?" was something special to me. i don't revisit a lot of old music. i have to be in the mood to hear it but when i hear old mary, it feels like 199whatever all over again, every time.
arguing with them about which one was better. lmaooo
i always say if i had known i was living in THEE moment, i would have savored it more but one moment from the 90s that i was 100% in and aware of was "What's 411?" my god it was explosive.
this was the first song i remember my mom knowing the words to and being like "wait! what?" she told me it was a remake. tevin campbell's strawberry letter 23 was the 2nd.
yeah bc we damn sure can't afford it. thank you for the free class. we'll let the kid down gently. 😭
🤝🏾you be knowing exactly where to pick up the vocal stim, Twin. 🤣
I GOT A JOB, BAYBEH!
Books have shown me new worlds. Shown me what is possible in my own life, even if the setting was utter make believe.
Plus, every good story I read is a reminder of what I too can create. It fucking rules
iktr welcome to the comfort zone!
MISS AMERICA ON YOU HEAUXS!!!!
i'd say they changed my perspective.
The Warmth of Other Suns
Assata
the color of money.
the movie is about how difficult family dynamics get! how everybody plays roles that are helpful and harmful! how older and younger generations, different socioec classes, diff personalities, don't do things the same, and it causes rifts and how hard it is to get through it with DYSFUNCTION!!!
the needy desire to make one of the characters in the movie The Villain only shows that people are LOOKING for a villain in other people, particularly loved ones who they have difficult relationships with. notice no one sees THEMSELVES as The Villain.
what y'all looking for is The Scapegoat.
ALL black people not just men, not just cishets, not just abled, moneyed, "attractive," respectable.
expensive is really just paying ppl for what they're worth but still...😭
i hate a mf that want you to do a demo before they tell you the prices. i told hubs as soon as he said they was on that bs that shit was gon be expensive as hell.
Uh I’m not sure that has happened. But we have also considered driving safety a shared responsibility? Or maybe I’m nuts. I don’t know.
I just know that the idea that anyone can and should be able to anticipate a myriad of possibilities isn’t true. We can reduce. We cannot eliminate risk.
Elsewhere on that thread was the point that blaming drivers gets politicians and traffic engineers off the hook.
I think a driver who is prone to saying something like "he's lucky I was looking" is in fact driving negligently regardless of any infrastructure flaws in the road.
YOU present the danger, so it's YOUR responsibility to not harm anyone. If that means you need to drive really slowly down this hypothetical street you imagine, then drive really slowly.
If you cannot handle that, then do not drive.
It's your job as a driver to operate in such a manner that you do not hit things, even unexpected things. If there is poor visibility due to a lot of parked cars, you need to slow down such that you could safely avoid hitting someone who suddenly enters your path.
"They were so lucky I was looking"
Ummm no. Stopping in time for a child running onto the street is not heroic/lucky, it is your goddamn obligation as a driver. Cost of entry. Kids are allowed to be unpredictable, you are not.
a woman on threads said she doesn't want children if she can't guarantee they won't be female bc only female children pass on matriarchal dna and my head has been spinning every time i try to think through it. 😭
i gotta find some books.
