Yeah I definitely don’t love where things seem to be heading there. I’m hopeful we’ll eventually reach some kind of equilibrium. But I truly have no idea.

8:36 PMA screenshot of Kagi search results showing news coverage of reports that the Trump administration's Pentagon threatened the Vatican after Pope Leo XIV criticized Trump's militaristic policies. Headlines from New Republic, Hindustan Times, and Newsweek are visible, along with photos of the Pope. The search returned 24 results in about one second.

I mean... their tools have found 27-year-old exploits in software used by millions. They're certainly not saints and are more than deserving of criticism, but for better and worse, their tools do work. Just not really deterministically.

Sometimes I post things I think are very funny and no one likes it and I worry that maybe my sense of humor is weird in a bad way actually

Back to work grinding that hustle. This hustle wasn't going to grind itself. Picked up a new hustle grinder just for this occasion. It's got a motor. There's a big warning on the side to make sure you secure loose clothing because it does not know or care the difference between hustle and flesh.

I am less of an AI hater than most folks around these parts (complimentary to all y'all), but even *I* lose my goddamn mind when I'm in a meeting and someone chimes in with "Here's what Claude/ChatGPT/Gemini says on this:"

I also really like ‘just’! I wish it was easier to define flags on jobs, and if I were maintaining it there’s a few other things I’d change, but I like it a TON more than its alternatives.

I am so tired of fancy caramel being salted. Caramel was already delicious! Salt is good on other stuff! Why ruin both of them by combining them?! It’s like putting mint in ice cream! Pineapple on pizza! Broccoli in a baked potato!

Oh my god that’s so horrifying, so sorry you had to deal with that. I would have died of dehydration from crying through it.

An unwillingness or inability to be aware of & grapple with this tension and flow freely between these ways of looking is among the more obnoxious traits a person can have, IMO. Especially if it becomes a dominant part of their personality.

At either end, too: severe arrogance vs. severe diffidence

The dichotomy of

"I've been doing this for years and I have a rich history of experience; I know what I'm doing."

vs.

"I have no idea what I'm doing and neither does anyone else; we're all just pulling shit out of our asses and making it all up as we go along."

I used to co-organize with Matt. He knows what makes a good and inclusive event. I have zero doubt that this is going to be an awesome time!

Hedwig also gets blown the fuck up, and one of the Weasley twins randomly dies. Everyone who survives have Naruto-esque kids with fanfiction names.
