As a Newcastle fan. The FA Cup game against Villa surely has to be an incredibly compelling endorsement of not going back to a world without VAR in some form

In Defense of VAR - It's imperfect, it's frustrating, and removing it would be a mistake A survey says 75% of Fans want VAR gone. They're not wrong to be frustrated but they're wrong about the fix.

I may be one of the last people out here supporting VAR but I still see it is a net positive overall and something that we should keep working on to improve and get right. www.cannonstats.com/p/in-defense...

Got to add rules experts to every commentary crew. "Let's bring in rules expert Mike Dean here. Mike, what do you see?"

FBRef was not only a brilliant resource generally, it made so much WoSo data available that couldn’t be found elsewhere. Absolutely gutting for fans, data nerds, and those of us who feel these things shouldn’t merely be the preserve of people with lots of money

People forget Hemby is actually a Terp. He's just been briefly loaned to Indiana

I have serious concerns how we scale up in this setup/group of players. Howe is gonna have to find a way to play outside transitions domestically. Played like this at times last year and a certain striker would just bail us out.

It's quite annoying that in all our we must sign PL proven players mantra that we didn't sign the most obvious one in Jackson

I'm also not sure he isn't caught at least enough to make the shot not high quality. If it's Elanga, probably a different story

Would be a different discussion if we had a healthy Wilson. Then maybe we sell Isak for a "reasonable" fee but it's just not feasible to go into season with Osula or makeshift Gordon as the #1 and the last thing we can afford is selling Isak and then expect other teams to be reasonable with us.

At 50m, absolutely instant buy. I'd pay that even if Isak ends up staying another year

I personally think Gordon and Martinelli should be a straight swap*

*I can assure you this has absolutely nothing to do with me being a Newcastle fan and a huge fan of Martinelli

People seem to have this idea that no other big team has ever sold a player for big money that they would have preferred not to

Newcastle is going to have to sell someone of significant value at some point anyway. It's just the reality of a PSR world.

Sometimes you just need to get a little more granular.

It's also not like Chelsea are short on players. I could understand this more if building depth was needed but that just isn't a problem here. Especially if some of the developmental buys work out in the next 1-2 years

same publication's Publisher Will Lewis, eight months ago, on why they wouldn't endorse a Presidential candidate:

If people really find this to be such an easy conclusion, then Congressional authority should be easy to get.

So why don’t they insist on a vote?

They know this isn’t “progressive” resistance. They want to marginalize it as such because on top of this war being ILLEGAL, it’s also deeply unpopular.
