2 years ago today, the people's joker finally saw its wide release. it made me and so many others feel incredibly seen. i animated a scene for it, and without even meaning to, a lot of these same colors show up in HATCH and my other stuff. i'm the throughline, sure, but maybe transness is too?

Once again, Snake Plisken is on point.

It's not often that my favorite first time watch was for an episode of I Hope You Suffer but The People's Joker from @veradrew22.bsky.social might be my favorite movie I've watched all year so far.

My BIG win yesterday was finally being able to watch "The People's Joker" with Mr. S, and it was brilliant. It doesn't let the poignancy preclude a whole lot of, pretty dark, humour. And while I assume it didn't have a huge budget, it did not feel low rent at all.

posting this one because i'm going to completely change the final cocktail for People's Joker. This is a white rum old fashioned with blackberry liqueur, vanilla syrup, and a pandan leaf. Embarrassingly, my whole thought process was "take an old fashioned and make it silly and purple/green" =/
