OTOH, the outsized hatred it faced probably had to do with the OP's points. There was plenty of other crap music at the same time (if it wasn't disco it was some sort of treacly ballad) that didn't get nearly the same level of fury.

New York is still trying to get rid of Cuomo. Let's nip this one in the bud.

For a while I was listening to a station that played a random selection of Casey Kasem top 40 lists from different years, and the 70s were ROUGH. They disco-fied everything that moved and most of it was unbearable. I might be misremembering, but I think there was a disco version of the Lord's Prayer

And it's not like it would be okay if he was the greatest politician ever, but why are people going to the mats for this guy? As far as I can tell, he's an entirely average establishment Dem. There's hundreds of him around! Throw out this one and find another.

Told my husband I was already leaning toward Katie Porter for governor but almost slipped and said Katy Perry. He thinks Justin Trudeau would make a good first gentleman of California.

No wipes are "actually flushable." Just writing it on the packaging won't change that. Sump pumps can't read.

It's amazing how all the AI boosters in writing spaces keep insisting that "everyone" is doing it. No, we're not. You're doing it because you suck, and we don't.

But does anyone really believe the voters part, or is it just an excuse to pretend they're doing anything other than allowing themselves to be bought/blackmailed?

The year of the power outages, I remember a guy running the Bay to Breakers in costume as "rolling blackouts." He had a kind of spinning mobile on his head with dead lightbulbs, I think.

Yes, I wouldn’t doubt that you could train AI to make plausible ersatz Cormac McCarthy that would fool most readers. But if you gave AI the sum of human literature up until McCarthy’s first novel, it would never spontaneously create his style.
