The Croat MiG-21s were the last of the type in military service in Europe. I was really grateful to see one fly at AirPower in 2022.

G-RNTB seen at St Athan yesterday. Great to see the old T-Bird looking to be in fine fettle. Hope she flies in the near future!
The awesome Couteau Delta at RIAT 2018.
An aggressive JASDF F-15J departure from Komatsu.
A Hellenic Air Force Mirage 2000-5BG departing RIAT in 2025.
One of Taiwan’s AH-1W “Super Cobras”. Always great to see an AH-1.
The iconic Mi-24/35, this one in Czech hands, demoing in what would be its final appearance in Czech colours at RIAT 2022. The Czech Air Force retired their “Hind” models in late 2024, and a number were donated to Ukraine.
Remembering the mega F-15QA from RIAT 2024!
A dawn arrival from one of the B-1Bs at RAF Fairford this March.
One fom friendlier times. The Russian Knights at MAKS in 2015. Amazing to see just one Flanker, let alone six flying together!
A RDAF AW101 flying at Karup a few years ago.
One of my favourites - a JGSDF AH-1S Cobra , belonging to the (recently disbanded) IVth Anti-Tank Helicopter Squadron at Kisarazu near Tokyo. It was a rare chance to see an in-service “Snake”, with great-looking camo to boot!
One of Couteau Delta at @airtattoo.bsky.social several years ago.
Throwback ten years(!) and spending a great day with 72° Stormo at Frosinone and their wonderful NH-500Es.
Tow of four GE F-101 engines that gives the B-1B Lancer its iconic deafening chest-rumbling sound roaring overhead at sunrise several days ago as “DENT 16”.
A favourite of mine - a JASDF ADTW F-15J flying a solo demo from Gifu Air Base in 2023.
A Danish MH-60R. Seahawks are operated by a handful of continental air arms, but remain a pretty rare sight in Europe.
A German Army EC665 Tiger blending into Alpine conditions at Zeltweg in 2022. Alway great to see these rare gunships.
Japan’s awesome Mitsubishi F-2. Looking like a beefed-up F-16 (which it sort of is), it’s designed for low level anti-shipping work, thus the colour scheme.
Always great seeing a 747. The operations at Fairford for the past two weeks have seen a near constant stream of them ferrying cargo from the US.
A lovely surprise visitor to RAF Fairford on the weekend, this C-130H with upgraded NP2000 propellers. Currently operating out of Ramstein AFB in Germany, the Herk still sports 96th Airlift Squadron markings and day glo numbering pointing to its role as a MAFFS fire-fighting bird.
Another one from this weekend. B-1B Lancer “HOME36” departs on another mission.
The four GE F-101 engines that gives the B-1B Lancer its iconic deafening chest-rumbling sound roaring overhead at sunrise on Saturday as “DENT 16”.
The Alizé is such a unique and interesting warbird on the European circuit. Looks great, sounds great, and has bags of charisma. I’m glad Cocardes Marine was able to avoid its permanent grounding a few years ago.
I’m a sucker for Alouette IIIs, and Romania’s IAR-316Bs, with their lovely camouflage, are the last of the type in active service in European skies.
The Austrian Air Force Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter. The Austrian Bundesheer has eight of these machines active in its inventory, and they provide nimble and short field abilities to the air arm in its Alpine climate.
